Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for leading and directing a diverse, multishift production team within a core manufacturing facility. This role is critical to achieving production volume, scheduling, quality, safety, and cost objectives while meeting customer requirements and budgets. As a highly visible leader, the Production Manager drives accountability, collaboration, and a safetyfirst culture while developing people and processes to deliver consistent production results on the manufacturing floor.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse manufacturing workforce, including Production Supervisors, Lead Operators, and Operators, to meet business and production objectives.
  • Build and sustain a culture of accountable performance, collaboration, and safety in a positive and engaging work environment.
  • Improve and sustain employee performance through coaching, mentoring, feedback, delegation, succession planning, team building, and performance management.
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and managers, creating development plans for highpotential employees and strengthening leadership capability.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and crossfunctional teams to drive continuous improvement in production cost, quality, delivery, and safety.
  • Monitor production and safety performance metrics and take corrective or proactive action to meet or exceed targets.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet current and future production requirements using fulltime and variable labor models.
  • Communicate key operational updates and priorities clearly and consistently to production teams.
  • Manage manufacturing processes, equipment, accident investigations, and corrective actions, including NonConformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Review and approve productionrelated documentation, expenses, safety actions, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and cost control.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of manufacturing experience, including at least 5 years in a Production Manager or equivalent leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading multishift manufacturing operations with a strong, handson presence on the production floor.
  • Lean / Six Sigma mindset with a demonstrated safetyfirst approach to leadership.
  • Experience working in fiberglass or composite manufacturing environments (e.g., boat building, pool manufacturing, or similar industries) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline production teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and conflictmanagement skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams including Manufacturing, Safety, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Purchasing.
  • Comfortable managing safety programs, accident investigations, and corrective action processes.
  • Basic computer application skills required.
  • High School Diploma required; postsecondary education is considered an asset, with experience valued over formal education.
