Production Line Lead

Job Description

As Production Line Lead at Sahah Naturals, you play a critical role in the day-to-day operation of our production facility. Specifically, your role is to lead the production team, execute the daily production schedule, ensure equipment is operating effectively, and ensure products are manufactured in accordance with approved procedures, food safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Your mission is to keep the production line and team running efficiently and safely while ensuring daily production targets are achieved and all required procedures are followed.

List of duties:
  • Production
    • Execute the daily production schedule and ensure production targets are met.
    • Ensure products are manufactured according to approved procedures and SOPs.
    • Keep the production line moving efficiently throughout the shift.
    • Monitor production throughout the day and minimize downtime.
    • Minimize product and material waste.
    • Identify and communicate production issues that could impact the schedule or production targets.
  • Equipment & Maintenance
    • Ensure production equipment is operating correctly and ready for daily production.
    • Perform required pre-operational equipment inspections.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
    • Coordinate with mechanics, equipment suppliers and other resources when additional troubleshooting or repairs are required.
    • Lead and coordinate routine equipment maintenance.
    • Coordinate and execute the facility sanitation program.
  • Supervision / Management / Communication
    • Oversee and lead the production team on the line (6 operators).
    • Organize and coordinate the team to achieve daily production requirements.
    • Ensure team members are following established production procedures and SOPs.
    • Escalate production, equipment, staffing or quality issues when required to the Site Manager.
  • Food Quality & Safety
    • Enforce food safety, workplace safety and GMP requirements throughout the production facility.
    • Perform required pre-operational inspections before production begins.
    • Identify and report non-conformities within the facility.
    • Ensure non-conforming products are properly identified and segregated.
    • Support investigations and corrective actions when production or quality issues occur.
    • Work closely with Quality to ensure production activities meet established quality and food safety requirements.
  • Facilities & Waste Management
    • Ensure waste materials are properly handled and disposed of.
    • Maintain clean, organized and safe production areas.
    • Inspect forklifts and pallet jacks before use.
    • Report facility or equipment issues requiring corrective action.
  • Seek constant improvements in production efficiency, equipment reliability, sanitation and overall production processes.
  • Various other ad hoc tasks as required.
Requirements:
  • Bilingual (English & French)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading or supervising a production team.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on alongside the production team when required.
  • Strong understanding of GMPs, sanitation and food safety practices is an asset.
  • Forklift experience/license is an asset.
