JOB SUMMARY

The duties of the Inventory Commodity Clerk include but are not limited to running accurate production numbers and communicating with the commodity manager with any inbound and quality concerns on product.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Verify all orders have been received from the sales department. Run production numbers that are in the system.
  • Check priority loads provided by transportation, and assure that finished goods will be completed by the time requested.
  • Monitor production to ensure time/schedules are being met.
  • Check product inbound with commodity manager.
  • Work with QC to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for communicating to supervisor/manager on any order changes.
  • Responsible for communicating to supervisor/manager on any inbound changes.
  • Responsible for communicating to supervisor/manager if product is not available and or does not meet quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate physical count in warehouse. Rotate inventory by received dates.
  • File daily order changes.
  • Maintain needed supplies of production documents such as inventory sheets, production scheduling sheets, etc.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work area.
  • Assist with production process when needed.
  • Follow safety policies/procedures.
  • Inform supervisor of unsafe conditions or acts.
  • Follow attendance and other company policies/procedures. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have mathematical computation skills 
  • Maintains proactive critical thinking skills on a daily basis
  • Knowledgeable in computer software such as Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Must be able to communicate in English for this position)
  • Flexibility with schedule; nights and weekends. Work overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Primarily production floor and warehouse environment in a manufacturing or food processing facility.
  • Work may involve exposure to noise, machinery, refrigeration/cold storage, or other industrial conditions.
  • Standard shifts may apply, but overtime or flexible hours may be required during high production periods or inventory counts.
  • Frequent interaction with production staff, warehouse personnel, and procurement teams.
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly during inventory audits or commodity tracking.
  • Must adhere to safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and company policies.
  • Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers, etc. 
  • Exposure to varying temperature of 45 degrees above/below.
  • Exposure to chemicals such as PAA, chlorine, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around production and warehouse areas for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull moderate weights (typically 25–50 pounds) when handling inventory, materials, or supplies.
  • Manual dexterity for handling products, labels, scanners, and inventory equipment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, or climb ladders or steps when accessing storage areas or shelves.
  • Vision (corrected or uncorrected) sufficient to read labels, documents, and inventory tracking systems.
  • Hearing and speech ability sufficient to communicate clearly with team members, management, and other departments.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including refrigerated or heated areas.
