About The Opportunity
Position Summary
The Director, Inventory Control is responsible for leading enterprise-wide inventory accuracy, inventory optimization, and process governance across Menasha Packaging operations. This role develops and executes inventory control strategies that improve working capital performance, ensure material availability, minimize waste, and support operational excellence across manufacturing and distribution environments. The Director partners closely with Operations, Planning, Service Delivery, Finance, Procurement, and IT teams to establish scalable processes, reporting, and controls that drive inventory integrity and business performance.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on supply chain leader with network level experience in inventory management, manufacturing operations, supply chain planning, process improvement, and cross-functional leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute enterprise inventory control strategies aligned with company operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead inventory governance across manufacturing, services, and distribution facilities.
  • Establish inventory accuracy standards, policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives focused on reducing excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining customer service levels.
  • Partner with leadership to improve working capital efficiency and inventory turns.

Operational Excellence
  • Oversee cycle count programs, physical inventories, reconciliation processes, and inventory audits.
  • Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Standardize inventory management best practices across plants and business units.
  • Monitor inventory KPIs and implement action plans to improve performance.

Systems & Data Management
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of ERP inventory transactions and master data.
  • Partner with IT and Supply Chain teams to enhance inventory reporting, visibility, and automation capabilities.
  • Lead implementation and optimization of inventory management tools, dashboards, and analytics.
  • Develop forecasting and inventory analysis models to support planning and purchasing decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Finance on inventory valuation, reserve analysis, and audit compliance.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Planning, and Operations teams to balance production efficiency and inventory investment.
  • Support customer fulfillment objectives through effective inventory availability and control.
  • Provide guidance and support during acquisitions, integrations, and operational transitions.

Team Leadership
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing inventory control organization.
  • Coach and mentor managers and team members to strengthen technical and leadership capabilities.
  • Establish clear goals, accountability measures, and development plans for staff.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational discipline.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Finance, or equivalent work experience.

Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in inventory control, supply chain, operations, or manufacturing leadership roles.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing multi-site inventory or supply chain functions.
  • Experience within manufacturing, packaging, consumer products, paper, or industrial operations strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading inventory optimization and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft suite is critical.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, manufacturing operations, and supply chain processes.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen related to inventory valuation, forecasting, and working capital management.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead change in a complex operational environment.
  • Proficiency with data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS/CPIM certification is a plus.

Working Conditions
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40% to manufacturing and distribution facilities.
