Job description

Position Summary

The Electrical Helper / Apprentice Electrician supports Foremen and licensed electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems for industrial and commercial projects. This position assists with site preparation, conduit installation, wire pulling, concrete work, equipment operation, and general construction activities while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and capable of performing physically demanding work in outdoor conditions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Consistently arrive to work on time and maintain reliable attendance.

Assist Foremen and licensed electricians with electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Assist with site excavation, setting rebar, and pouring concrete.

Install conduit, cable trays, wire, and electrical supports for industrial applications.

Bend, cut, thread, and secure conduit according to project specifications.

Pull wire and cable through conduits, raceways, and cable trays.

Install electrical boxes, brackets, supports, and related electrical components.

Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.

Support troubleshooting efforts and assist with electrical repairs as directed.

Gather, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment required for daily work.

Operate or assist in operating heavy equipment, including excavators, forklifts, and skid steers when authorized.

Read and follow work instructions, drawings, and project specifications.

Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping of work areas, tools, and equipment.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and required PPE standards.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.

Participate in training and apprenticeship development opportunities.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion and operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic mechanical aptitude and construction knowledge.

Knowledge of electricity, voltage, current relationships, and electrical fundamentals preferred.

Ability to properly size conduit, cable, and conductors.

Ability to install and terminate electrical components under supervision.

Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and safe operating procedures.

Ability to read a tape measure and use precision measuring devices accurately.

Basic math skills and ability to perform measurements and calculations.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Willingness to learn electrical codes, installation methods, and industry best practices.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.


Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Previous construction, industrial, or electrical experience preferred but not required.

Must maintain a valid Driver's License.

Must obtain and maintain a State of Texas Electrical Apprentice License annually.

Enrollment in or willingness to participate in an Electrical Apprenticeship Program preferred.

Ability to pass pre-employment screening requirements, if applicable.
