Description

The Production Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating daily operations for a small seed tape production operation, managing a staff of four to eight people to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with established schedules and quality standards. This position oversees production workflow, supports inventory control and lot traceability, leads machine operator training, and collaborates with operations, quality, warehouse, purchasing, and maintenance teams to achieve production objectives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities to ensure production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and productivity goals are consistently met.

Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, staffing levels, and equipment capacity.

Oversee the receiving of incoming inventory and verify quantities, product information, lot numbers, and required documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Maintain accurate lot tracking records to support traceability, inventory control, quality assurance, and applicable regulatory customer or certification requirements.

Train machine operators on proper equipment setup

Monitor machine operator performance and provide coaching, guidance, and follow-up training to support consistent and efficient operations.

Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, quality, and maintenance personnel to resolve material shortages, equipment concerns, and production delays.

Identify and recommend opportunities to improve workflow, reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and minimize waste.

Implement organic production practices where required to support compliant processes and applicable customer or certification requirements.

Maintain documentation and records required to support continued organic certification, including production, inventory, lot tracking, and process records.



Requirements


Previous experience in production management, manufacturing supervision, warehouse operations, or a related leadership role preferred.

Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory receiving, lot tracking, and manufacturing or production processes.

Ability to train, lead, and motivate machine operators and production employees.

Strong attention to detail 

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Basic computer skills required; experience with inventory, production, or scheduling.


Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in a production and/or warehouse environment and may require standing, walking, lifting, and working near production equipment.

The employee is expected to follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and operational standards at all times.

Overtime or adjusted work hours may be required based on production schedules and business needs.
