University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors (UMEC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group. Inc. EMCOR is the world’s leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services, including planning, consulting, operations and maintenance. With Mechanical Systems Design Assist & BIM Services expertise, UMEC is a full service mechanical contractor serving the western United States. UMEC designs, builds and commissions mechanical systems, including heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and piping systems for commercial, institutional, high tech, industrial and military clients.

SUMMARY

University Mechanical is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Project Manager to lead mechanical construction projects on time and within budget for Semiconductor, Data Center Markets, Healthcare, Higher Education and a wide range of other markets. The position requires have 5-7 years Construction Project Management experience, preferably working for a Mechanical Contractor. Applicants with Military experience are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Project Manager is responsible for the successful completion of all aspects of the project;
  • Manages the overall operations of the project including: Field labor and productivity, scope management, construction schedule, client relations, job cost management, cost control of project, schedule of values, change order management, compliance with project specifications, and the performance of daily operations;
  • Preparing monthly financial forecasts and updates;
  • Enforces UMEC Safety Program and coordinates with Safety Director to ensure proper site safety practices and procedures are followed;
  • Coordinates purchase of necessary materials, equipment, rentals and services with purchasing department;
  • Responsible for ensuring complete and proper processing of all project correspondence, records, reports, etc. and timely submission;
  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, executed plans, and programs;
  • Responsible for directing and overseeing the work activities of their direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have 5-7 years Mechanical Construction Project Management experience or Plumbing Project management experience, preferably working for a Mechanical Contractor;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management OR a minimum of 8 years combined experience in Field Installation and Project Management in the Mechanical Industry, with at least 5 years experience leading large complex multi-million dollar Mechanical Projects in the public/private sector;
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and work experience showing the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs, Project Management and Estimating software, including, but not limited to- Microsoft (Excel, Work, Project, Access, & Powerpoint), Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, and Vista-Viewpoint (Project Management & Accounting Software);
  • Travel to construction project sites in the greater Tempe/Phoenix area

COMPUTER SKILLS

  •  
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Familiarity with Project Management and Estimating software, including, but not limited to- Microsoft (Excel, Word, Project, Access, & Powerpoint), Bluebeam Revu PDF editing, and Vista-Viewpoint
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other mechanical, technical, or construction programs.
