Shipping Team Lead
The Shipping Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations, ensuring orders are shipped accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role serves as a working leader for the shipping team, coordinating workloads, supporting team members, and collaborating with Production, Sales, Logistics, and Customer Service to meet customer expectations.
The Shipping Team Lead will monitor shipping performance, resolve issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures. Reporting directly to the Production Control Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Status: Hourly Non-Exempt
Position Type: Full-time (Occasional Overtime Required)
Hours: 40-45 hrs
Schedule: M-F
Reports to: Production Control Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support company values and mission through respect, continuous improvement, and safety.
  • Lead daily shipping activities to ensure orders are processed, staged, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate shipments with internal logistics teams and third-party carriers.
  • Monitor daily shipping schedules and adjust priorities as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Track, communicate, and resolve endangered, delayed, or backordered shipments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Shipping, Production, Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics.
  • Assist with inventory counts, finished goods reconciliation, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Train, coach, and support shipping associates on processes, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor team performance and provide feedback to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shipping processes.
  • Ensure shipping documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Monitor shipping metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply Lean Thinking principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support investigations and resolution of shipping discrepancies, damages, and customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve order fulfillment, lead times, and overall operational performance.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, training, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Communicate regularly with the Production Control Manager regarding shipping performance, issues, and opportunities.
  • Support and assist in other areas of the operation as business needs require.
  • Other duties as assigned. Job duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time and may include transfers to other departments or local facilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, forklifts, and varying weather conditions when loading and unloading shipments.
