Job description

As our next QA/QC Manager, you will be a member of the Blair management team, take part in the development of policy, within the framework of the Corbion strategy. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an adequate system for quality assurance and quality control in order to ensure the quality of products in conformity with specifications, certifications, and other quality concerns as related to federal and state requirements for food safety. In addition, you will effectively manage the annual QA Department budget. Essential Job Functions: Provide employee development, leadership, and coaching on both a team and individual basis. Keep team members informed of conditions, trends, important information, as well as, daily performance, safety, quality issues and business needs. Be able to plan strategically for the Quality department but also pivot tactically to changing business needs, metrics, and goals. Plan and accomplish department and company goals for Quality as set by the Site Director. Continuously review quality assurance of Corbion's products to avoid high dollar impact to the business by potential product recall Guide internal and external quality audit processes for success to maintain Corbion's and customers' standards of our products Coordinate, with respect to food safety and quality, the communication with internal customers and contractors. Participate on the global quality team/platform.Communicate global topics with local site and coordinate local implementation of global requirements. Ensure availability of department materials in line with budget expectations. Develop and maintain the quality management system and ensure proper handling of deviations and nonconformances within the system. Ensure the development and maintenance of the quality control program. Assist procurement in the approval of Corbion's selection of suppliers for production and to help assure that they adhere to appropriate and agreed upon GMPs and other defined quality standards. Promote quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines in execution of all daily quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure a safe working environment and drive continuous improvement in quality and safety awareness and culture. Track, report, and solve internal and external complaints regarding products or deliveries alongside all departments in such a way that problems and complaints are being solved with a focus on long term internal and external client satisfaction. Maintain internal quality and food safety management system documentations and controls to ensure alignment with new and changing developments and regulations with respect to quality assurance and quality control in food and feed manufacturing. Ensure proper handling of and timely completion of corrective and preventative action plans to ensure quality and food safety failures do not re-occur. Manage all internal and external audit programs including BRC, customer audits and GMP inspection programs. Executes quality, environmental, safety, and health standards per defined roles and responsibilities to ensure personal and product safety and quality. Implements, executes and promotes food safety of our products using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), performance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Security Measures, Housekeeping, Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point (HACCP), all quality, regulatory, environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations. These standards are used in all daily activities to ensure product safety and quality are in compliance. Oversee definition and implementation of appropriate material specifications. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities BA or BS degree in a Chemistry, Biochemistry or Quality Engineering discipline. Experience in food processing required.Minimum 6+ years' experience in increasing responsibility within food facilities in the quality control/quality assurance realm. Minimum of 5+ years of prior experience in leading teams Exceptional investigation and root cause analysis methodology knowledge. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience using an enterprise Quality Management Software Results oriented Process Management General Working Environment The Manager, QA/QC is required to work in an office setting and in the laboratory; with some tasks taking place inside and outside of the plant. The Manager, QA/QC is subject to wear the appropriate PPE including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, chemical suits, face-shields, rubber gloves and uniform clothing. Temperature inside and outside the facility will range between -15°F and 120°F depending on location and the activities involved. Occasional travel (including international travel) is required.
