TAILOR/SEAMSTRESS
Tailor/Seamstress - Full Time (Washington D.C.) Monday - Friday, Day Shift
Pay Range: $19 - $21 per hour

As a Tailor/Seamstress (Production Associate) at Galls you will be hands-on altering our nation's Public Safety professionals' uniforms and equipment. You will ensure all measurements and fittings are done properly, accurately, and efficiently - so that they can wear that uniform proudly. At Galls, we are P.R.O.U.D. to Serve, and it all starts on our Production and Value-Added Service Team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Read and accurately identify the customer's needs per the Work Instruction Document
  • Take necessary measurements and mark garments for alterations with ability to problem solve individual sizing issues
  • Operate a heat press safely and efficiently
  • Perform uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments with accuracy and efficiency to include taking up stride, lengthening/shortening tails on shirts, tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, mending tears, replacing zippers, applying patches, applying name strips, applying striping, and applying patches
  • Operate industrial sewing machinery and meet production deadlines
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous experience in Alterations preferred. Galls will train!
  • Well-versed on industrial Sewing machines preferred. Galls will train!
  • Ability to effectively read/receive work instructions in English
  • Extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused - you're not happy with mistakes
  • Solid communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, stretch, twist, and lift, with or without reasonable accommodation
