Job description

Job Title: Production Planner Location: North Kingstown, Rhode Island Type: Direct Hire Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 40.0

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling & Shop Floor Control: Manage scheduling and shop floor control activities, ideally with shipbuilding or comparable manufacturing experience.
  • Data Management: Maintain accuracy of the planning and cost-tracking system; audit processes regularly to ensure consistency and drive improvements to system output.
  • Timecard Management: Enter daily timecard data for assigned projects, ensuring all project hours are recorded correctly.
  • Work Order Generation & Reporting: Generate and close work orders, track project hours, and prepare reports summarizing project totals.
  • Internal Reporting: Produce, distribute, and analyze internal reports supporting the Production Team's tracking of progress and performance.
  • Project Efficiency Analysis: Track and evaluate weekly efficiency across all assigned projects, identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Schedule Maintenance: Update and maintain project schedules, aligning with engineering timelines and requirements.
  • Work Package Support: Establish required dates for work packages supporting the Engineering schedule and coordinate execution timing.
  • Planning & Scheduling Meetings: Prepare and present materials for Planning and Scheduling meetings, keeping project information current and accurate.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilize Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and other business software required by the role.
  • Workplace Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a safe, organized work area in accordance with company safety protocols.
  • PPE: Wear PPE as specified by job hazard analysis and safety procedures.
  • Physical Capability: Able to work throughout all areas of the shipyard, including tasks requiring physical endurance.
Requirements
  • Experience in scheduling and shop floor control; shipbuilding experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Project, and related software.
  • Background in organizational and analytical tasks supporting production scheduling.
