Job Summary:
The Product Manager is responsible for guiding and managing the lifecycle of new and existing products and feature enhancements related to high-pressure pumping equipment used in hydraulic fracturing operations. This role balances technical engineering knowledge with commercial business insight to ensure products meet customer requirements, operational demands, and market opportunities within the oil and gas manufacturing sector.

The Product Manager conducts research to understand customer needs, industry trends, pricing dynamics, and competitive equipment offerings while collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and operations teams. This role participates in all phases of the product development lifecycle including analysis, design, testing, validation, commercialization, and product launch. The position operates with occasional direction while gaining exposure to more complex product strategy and commercial decision-making responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing the lifecycle of high-pressure pump products and related components used in hydraulic fracturing applications.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams to develop and improve pump systems, components, and performance features.
  • Conduct market research and customer analysis within the oil and gas sector to identify product opportunities, performance requirements, and emerging customer needs.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive products, and technology developments within the pressure pumping and energy services markets.
  • Work with sales and commercial teams to understand customer requirements, pricing dynamics, and market positioning.
  • Support development of product strategies including pricing guidance, value propositions, and competitive differentiation.
  • Develop product requirements, technical documentation, functional specifications, and concept drawings to communicate product designs and improvements.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, product testing, validation, and field performance evaluations.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure product manufacturability, cost efficiency, and reliability.
  • Support new product introductions, product launches, and engineering change processes.
  • Gather feedback from customers, field service teams, and sales to identify product enhancements, cost improvements, and reliability opportunities.
  • Assist in prioritizing product improvements and roadmap initiatives aligned with business strategy and revenue goals.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis related to product performance or reliability issues in the field.
  • Contribute to business cases, product performance analysis, and profitability assessments.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of high-pressure pumping systems, rotating equipment, or fluid handling systems preferred.
  • Understanding of both engineering design principles and commercial product strategy.
  • Ability to translate customer and business requirements into clear technical product specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate both technical performance and business impact.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with product development processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of product costing, pricing considerations, and value-based product positioning.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Typically requires 2–4 years of related experience in product engineering, manufacturing engineering, product management, or equipment design within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in oil and gas equipment, pressure pumping systems, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery manufacturing is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to commercial activities such as customer engagement, product pricing, or market analysis is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and product documentation.
  • May require occasional time in manufacturing facilities or test environments, including walking, standing, and wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to manufacturing sites, customer locations, or field operations for product evaluations, customer meetings, and product support.
