Job description

We make fun products, and fun products still have to launch on time. That is where you come in. As Product Operations Specialist, you take a launch date and work backward from it: how many units to build, when the production order goes in, which channels the product sells on, and the product data that becomes the source of truth for everyone downstream. When something is about to slip, you catch it first.

You will keep product data and imagery accurate across all three brands, Outdoor Cap, JUNK Brands, and Legendary Headwear, and move products through their lifecycle from in-line to sale to close out to seasonal. For JUNK Brands you also own inventory: weeks of supply, replenishment, SKU rationalization, and collection planning. If you are strong in Excel, precise by nature, and the kind of person who notices the number that looks wrong, you will fit right in. Writing clear product descriptions is a plus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Gets product to market on time.

  • Takes the launch date and works backward from it: how many units to build, when the production order has to go in, and what has to be done before go live.
  • Enters the product data that becomes the source of truth, including images, categories, tags, and pricing, right the first time.
  • Decides which channels each product sells on (junkbrands.com, Amazon, Walmart.com, Faire, TikTok Shop, and wholesale accounts like Lids and Scheels) and when each one turns on.
  • Builds the punch list behind every launch: what each channel needs, who owns it, and when it is due. Chases it to done.
  • Presents the production order for approval and enters it by the required date.
  • Spots anything that could push a launch date and raises it while there is still time to fix it.

Keeps product healthy after launch.

  • Keeps product data and imagery accurate across all three brands, everywhere a customer sees it.
  • Moves products through their lifecycle, from in-line to sale to close out to seasonal, and updates every channel to match.
  • Handles inventory transfers so product sits where it sells.
  • Validates that the website and every other channel show the correct product, description, visuals, copy, and price.
  • Formats data for import and export, including manual entry when needed.

Runs inventory for JUNK Brands.

  • Watches weeks of supply by SKU and by collection, and raises risk before it becomes a stockout or an overstock.
  • Owns replenishment. Reviews and verifies what the automated system recommends, presents the production order, and enters it once approved.
  • Leads SKU rationalization. Spots underperformers, recommends what to cut, and manages the wind down.
  • Manages collections from introduction through exit.
  • Reconciles inventory data across systems and chases down discrepancies.
  • Maintains reporting on sell through, coverage, and inventory position.

Customized Product Administration.

  • Be the key interface with our customization software partner.
  • Act as the Customer Product Administrator by establishing business rules and general customization engine oversite with collaboration from Marketing and Development.
  • Ensure custom blanks are set up with proper product information.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot customer customization issues.
  • Keep organization informed with regular status report outs.

AI Forward

  • In the changing information landscape, new opportunities for automation and work assistance are ever changing. The preferred candidate is comfortable using AI to optimize their duties.

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced skill set in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work in multiple systems and formats.
  • Ability to collaborate to assist in day-to-day data management.
  • Time management and multi-tasking skills to operate in fast paced environment.
  • Highly motivated, strong work ethic with demonstrated flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly accountable with strong follow-up skills.
  • Working knowledge of inventory fundamentals: weeks of supply, sell through, safety stock, and lead time.
  • Understands that every sales channel has its own requirements and lead times, and plans around them.
  • Comfortable making a recommendation from imperfect data and explaining the reasoning behind it.
  • Willing to question an automated result rather than accept it at face value.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or institution.
  • Two or more years in product data, merchandising, planning, or inventory management preferred.
  • Experience with an ERP or inventory planning system is a plus.
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge is a plus.
  • Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Experience with project management software.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Primarily seated work; must be able to remain in a stationary position ~80% of the day.
  • Regularly required to reach, bend, and move within the office; ability to move 10–20 lbs occasionally.
  • Close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information with internal and external customers.

Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
