Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Underwriting Strategic Solutions & Capabilities provides consultation to Business Insurance partners through the creation and refinement of targeted and impactful underwriting and product solutions. As a Manager, Underwriting Strategic Solutions, you will leverage your growing industry expertise to identify and support improvements to the execution of underwriting and product strategy. In doing so, you will influence and contribute to cross-functional project teams across Business Insurance dedicated to designing and strengthening business capabilities. This role focuses on the execution and continuous improvement of renewal triage capabilities, applying portfolio management and process design expertise to advance Select's triage discipline and optimize underwriting model outcomes.What Will You Do?
  • Identify and support the development of underwriting and product strategies and solutions to improve existing processes and develop new capabilities to optimize business performance.
  • Contribute to the implementation and enhancement of underwriting-centric capabilities in support of customer growth, retention, profitability, and underwriting excellence. Manage such initiatives through collaborative partnerships with Underwriting and other functional groups (i.e., Product Management, Actuarial, Operations, Risk Control, Claim, etc.).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Business Capabilities Office, Technology, and other functional partners in the development and implementation of capabilities, enhancements, and defect management.
  • Translate underwriting strategy into effective triage processes and portfolio execution - with primary focus on renewal - through process design and improvement, portfolio-level performance monitoring, and alignment with desk-level underwriting practices, in close partnership with underwriting and operational teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Six or more years of experience in commercial underwriting and product within the property and casualty industry.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the pursuit of business objectives.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

What is a Must Have?
  • Four years of experience in underwriting, product, or a closely related field within the financial services industry.
