Job description

The group you'll be a part of
In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.
The impact you'll make
Deposition Product Group has a proven track record of constant innovation that has resulted in a market-leading suite of technology-enabling products and a dynamic, winning culture.
As an Associate Product Manager, you will partner with the lead Product Manager to keep our products customer ready and configurable/profitable across their full lifecycle. This role is the operational backbone of the product line - owning the day-to-day management of product configurations, bills of materials (BOM), change requests, and sustaining activities that keep our installed base and active products running smoothly. It is highly cross-functional, requiring close interaction with hardware engineering, software, platform and service teams, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically grounded individual to build deep product and business expertise and gain broad exposure across Lam's functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and organized, with sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to work effectively across multiple organizations.
What you'll do
The Associate Product Manager supports the product line across its lifecycle, with primary ownership of sustaining and configuration activities. Key responsibilities include:
Configuration & BOM Management
Own and maintain the catalog of products and options offered for sale, ensuring configurations are accurate, current, and aligned with the plan of record.
Manage product BOMs and configuration data; ensure changes are correctly reflected across systems and documentation.
Review customer product configurations to ensure quality, completeness, and manufacturability prior to order fulfillment.
Review and dispositions non-standard configuration requests, partnering with engineering and the lead PM on feasibility and pricing.
Sustaining & Lifecycle
Sustain and support active products from a product management view, including driving resolution of end-of-life (EOL) and component obsolescence issues.
Evaluate alternatives and drive solutions in support of product lifetime extension.
Lead product lifecycle documentation and prepare customer notifications/communications (e.g., product change notices, EOL announcements).
Process and track engineering change requests (ECRs/ECNs), assessing product, cost, and customer impact.
Cost & Operational Support
Maintain product data, dashboards, and trackers that give visibility into configuration, cost, and lifecycle status.
Support the lead PMs on roadmap execution and cross-functional coordination as needed.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and a structured, organized approach to managing complex data (configurations, BOMs, change records).
A bias for action and strong follow-through; able to drive issues to closure across multiple teams.
Solid technical aptitude - able to read and reason about hardware/system configurations and engineering changes.
Excellent collaboration and communication; able to build cross-functional partnerships and keep stakeholders aligned.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing (customer notifications, change documentation).
Comfortable solving structured problems in a fast-moving environment, and escalating appropriately.
Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Teramcenter) and BOM/configuration management is a plus.
Who we're looking for
  • BS in Engineering or a Technical discipline. Business or technical Master's is desirable.
  • 5+ years of related experience (product management, sustaining/configuration engineering, supply chain, or manufacturing engineering) with a Bachelor's degree; or 3+ years with a Master's degree; 1+ year with a PhD
  • Demonstrated ability to manage detailed, cross-functional work to completion.

Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to see the big picture and grasp complex interconnections, self-drive, and "a bias for action".
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas, often at senior levels, to persuade to adopt a different point of view as needed.
  • Ability to lay out clear messages and value propositions in clean and concise collateral.
  • Excellent collaboration & communication; form cross-functional partnerships to enable successful execution
  • Ability to solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business in a fast moving environment
  • Leading projects with notable risk and complexity; developing strategy for project execution
