Job description

Join the Market Leader in Electric Power Data and Analytics Solutions
The electrical grid is the largest and most complicated machine ever built. Yes Energy's industry-leading electric power trading analytics software provides real-time visibility into the massive amount of data generated by the North American electrical grid daily. Our unique and innovative view of the data informs real-time trading decisions and mid-to-long-term investment decisions that keep utility prices low, support the energy transition, and keep the grid running. It's both challenging work and work with a purpose.
Be a part of our successful, growing business during international transformation.
Position Summary
You will own the product strategy, roadmap, and commercial outcomes for Market Data - the ISO and public data (EIA, NWS, and others) Yes Energy collects, and the value we build on top of it across our UI, API, Snowflake, and data lake products. This role requires deep nodal power market fluency and genuine data fluency, because the value of this data is entirely contextual to how customers use it to make trading and investment decisions. The hard part of this job isn't collecting the data. It's deciding which derivative products are worth building, what customers will value, and how to define a roadmap that advances how energy market participants work, and helps move the industry forward.
Position Details
  • Salary range: $145,000 - $170,000
  • Location: Boulder, CO; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; Houston, TX - hybrid, 2 days in office
  • Full-time
  • Reporting to: Director of Product
  • Travel requirement: 10% travel required for client sites and internal collaboration

Primary Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Commercial Ownership
    • Own the development of business cases for new proprietary datasets and delivery products, with accountability for ARR and retention outcomes.
    • Lead product discovery for new initiatives - testing business viability and willingness to pay for new datasets and derivative products, drawing on firsthand experience with what traders and analysts actually need, not secondhand feature requests.
    • Define next-generation derivative datasets where deep market and data expertise directly determines what's worth building.

Roadmap & Delivery Leadership
    • Own sequencing of collection and maintenance priorities ahead of ISO market changes (e.g., new market launches, FERC rule changes).
    • Own data discoverability and usability of Market Data.
    • Translate our superior data quality into customer-facing features and messaging.

Commercial Success
    • Drive ARR growth for Market Data across current and new markets, owning the strategy behind pricing, packaging, and expansion opportunities.
    • Drive successful product adoption and commercial results by ensuring positioning, messaging, and launches clearly communicate customer value, and equip Sales and Marketing to win the market.
    • Stay ahead of the market by translating ISO and regulatory change into roadmap decisions.
    • Drive product decisions by turning usage data and customer signals into a roadmap customers are bought in on.

Market Intelligence & Risk Mitigation
    • Continuously analyze trends in deregulated electricity markets and translate what it means for our customers and products.
    • Monitor competitor products and market activity to maintain differentiation and relevance.
    • Identify and mitigate product and market risks to support long-term viability and customer satisfaction.

Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Coordinate roadmap decisions across Data Engineering, Data Quality, Market Monitoring, and downstream product teams (UI, API, Snowflake, data lake) who depend on Market Data as an upstream input.
    • Represent the customer and the business case in executive and cross-departmental forums, with the authority to push back on priorities that don't hold up.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product management experience in a SaaS environment, ideally energy or regulated utilities.
  • Strong domain understanding of regulated nodal power markets (ERCOT, PJM, etc.).
  • Experience owning product-level commercial outcomes - revenue, cost, margin, or retention - and using that data to make investment tradeoffs.
  • Experience owning data quality, lineage, or governance for a data product - accountable when it isn't clean, not just a downstream consumer.
  • Demonstrated ability to test commercial viability (pricing, willingness to pay) before building, not just after.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize regulatory, market, and customer insights into product strategy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • An analytical mindset with comfort in making decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience building analytical or data science work products (models, dashboards, pipelines) that directly supported trading or investment decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Geography/GIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Key Competencies
Nodal Power Market Expertise
    • Deep fluency in ISO/RTO operations and energy data.

Deep fluency in financial data, real-time market analytics, or complex data products in regulated industries is relevantAgile Product Ownership
    • Strong proficiency working with Agile software development frameworks and project tracking tools, specifically Jira.

Data Analysis & Metrics
    • Hands-on experience with data cleansing, mapping, and enrichment - not secondhand data consumption.
    • Ability to work with SQL, Snowflake, Oracle, DataBricks, Python, or R for self-service product analytics
    • Experience defining and tracking product KPIs, usage metrics, and feature adoption indicators

Technical Fluency
    • AI-Augmented Execution: Use AI tools (Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT) to prototype, draft user stories, synthesize customer research, and collaborate with engineering in agentic development workflows. We expect candidates to actively raise the AI-fluency bar for the rest of the team, not just keep pace with it.
    • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, Tableau, or Sigma to independently query, manipulate, and extract product insights - without relying on a data analyst to do it for you.

Stakeholder Management
    • Ability to align Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, and executives around hard tradeoffs - including saying no.
    • High attention to detail and ability to balance competing demands from multiple internal and external stakeholders.

At Yes Energy, we value connecting directly with candidates. We kindly ask that third-party recruiters and agencies not submit resumes, as we are not open to external recruiting partnerships.
