Job description

Sr Product Manager, Pura App

Digital Product Team  ·  Reports to VP, Digital Product  ·  Full Time  ·  Remote / Hybrid

Join Us at Pura—Reimagining Fragrance for the Future

At Pura, we believe life is better when it smells good. Fragrance has the unique power to transform spaces, elevate moods, and create lasting memories. But we know it can do even more. That’s why we’re pioneering the future of fragrance, combining cutting-edge smart home technology with premium, clean scents to create personalized, meaningful experiences in every home.

We’re not just a fragrance company—we’re on a mission to change the way people experience scent. At Pura, we are redefining fragrance as a critical element of design, on par with color, texture, sound, lighting, and furniture. We call this Scent Design—transforming scent from an afterthought into an intentional, skillful component of every space. By blending artistry and science, Pura allows users to design their own “scentscapes” that enhance daily life and craft environments that feel as good as they smell.

Why Join Pura?

Our journey began with two innovators, Richie Stapler and Bruno Lima, and their shared vision of revolutionizing how we experience fragrance. Since then, Pura has grown into a company that sells a fragrance every 3.7 seconds, partnering with iconic brands like Curio, Anthropologie, and Disney. We’ve been recognized as the Fastest Growing Company in Utah, and we are passionate about making scent a core part of life’s most memorable moments.

Your Role at Pura:

As Senior Product Manager for the Pura App, you will make the app a best-in-class customer experience across onboarding, device management, and continuous engagement — building long-term value for our customers and our business.  To do it, you’ll combine rigorous quantitative analysis with deep user insight to understand our customers’ biggest pain points, and translate that understanding into a strategy that maximizes both customer and business value.

You own problem definition for your area: every initiative starts from a clear, well-scoped problem with a measurable hypothesis and defined success criteria. You bring evidence-based recommendations to stakeholders and leadership, actively seek input, and build alignment that lets the team move quickly and confidently. You’ll partner closely with UX design, engineering, and our data team to keep everyone moving in the same direction and to clear obstacles from the path.

You spend equal time on delivery and discovery — driving in-flight work to launch while ensuring the next horizon of high-value work is well-researched and ready. Above all, you cultivate a culture of customer obsession that makes curiosity and learning contagious across the team.

What You’ll Own:

  • Strategy for the Pura app.  Set time-bound, measurable goals for the Pura app and translate business objectives and customer insight into an evidence-grounded strategy — with clear sequencing and transparent tradeoffs.
  • Onboarding & activation.  Own the experience that turns a new device owner into an activated, engaged customer — including device setup, pairing, and the critical first-run moments where hardware apps most often lose people.
  • Device management.  Make managing Pura devices effortless — scheduling, fragrance control, multi-device households, and troubleshooting — in close partnership with hardware and firmware teams.
  • Continuous engagement & LTV.  Drive retention and lifetime value through re-engagement loops and subscription experiences that keep customers coming back.
  • Measurement & experimentation.  Define how success is measured before work begins, report results against kickoff goals, run disciplined experiments, and use what you learn to adjust the plan.
  • Stakeholder alignment.  Build alignment across design, engineering, data, and leadership — surfacing risks and tradeoffs early so the executive team can make confident calls on cross-portfolio priorities.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Initiatives deliver the outcomes set at kickoff — measured consistently and reviewed on a regular cadence.
  • Engineering, design, and data rarely have to guess; requirements are clear, scope is honest, and decisions move quickly.
  • Leadership has what they need to make confident calls — tradeoffs are visible, risks are surfaced early, and recommendations are grounded in evidence.
  • Discovery is continuous: the backlog is healthy, assumptions are pressure-tested, and the team is always pointed at the next right problem.
  • Customer obsession is contagious — the team asks “what does the customer need?” before “what does the roadmap say?”

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years driving direct-to-consumer mobile app improvement across onboarding, engagement, retention, and LTV metrics.
  • Experience shipping apps for connected or IoT hardware — device pairing (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi), device state, firmware coordination, and setup/troubleshooting flows — or a clear ability to ramp quickly in a hardware + app environment.
  • Proven ownership of subscription, membership, or recurring-revenue products, with a track record of improving retention, reducing churn, and growing customer lifetime value.
  • Strong analytical foundation: hands-on experimentation and A/B testing, funnel analysis, and fluency with product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, or PostHog).
  • Excellent executive communication and cross-functional influence: you turn data into a clear narrative, surface tradeoffs, and build alignment without relying on positional authority.
  • Deep understanding of native mobile ecosystems (iOS and Android), including onboarding UX, lifecycle/CRM engagement, and app release, ratings, and performance considerations.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience on a growth team, and 0-to-1 or major re-platform experience.
  • Background in CPG, fragrance, or premium/lifestyle consumer brands.
  • Awareness of omnichannel and retail dynamics (Pura sells through partners and retail, not only the app).
  • Experience with personalization or recommendation systems.
Pura’s Story

We’re passionate about creating spaces that inspire, elevate, and transform everyday life. We believe scent is more than just a pleasant background—it’s an integral part of Scent Design, transforming homes into meaningful, personalized spaces. Our smart home fragrance diffusers allow users to design their own scent experiences with premium, clean fragrances.

After 10 years of innovation, we’ve been recognized by Inc. and Utah Business as one of the best places to work, and we continue to push the boundaries of technology and fragrance. Join us in our pursuit of reimagining what’s possible with scent design.
Pura’s Culture

Our culture is built on a foundation of innovation, collaboration, inclusivity, and being good humans. We believe in fostering an environment where creativity thrives, empowering each team member to contribute their unique perspectives and skills. Our commitment to sustainability and integrity drives our decisions, ensuring that we not only create exceptional products but also contribute positively to our community and the planet. We celebrate diversity and prioritize open communication, cultivating a supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and inspired to push boundaries. Together, we’re not just building a brand—we’re creating a movement that redefines the role of fragrance in our lives.

Join the Pura Team!

We’re looking for individuals who believe in the power of fragrance and technology to transform lives. If you’re ready to be part of a dynamic, fast-growing company at the forefront of an exciting industry, we’d love to hear from you.
