Aging infrastructure, surging power demand and multiyear equipment lead times are

accelerating the shift from reactive to predictive, data-driven power asset management.

Magnefy is a Stanford spinout building the missing continuous data layer for critical power

assets. Our affordable, non-invasive magnetic sensing and AI platform captures the

high-resolution โ€œheartbeatโ€ of transformers, inverters, switchgear, and generatorsโ€”detecting

anomalies early and translating them into actionable maintenance, procurement, and CapEx

insights.

As we move from successful validation to pilot and commercial deployment, weโ€™re hiring a

mission-driven, hands-on Product Development Engineer to turn cutting-edge technology

into real-world impact. Youโ€™ll contribute across product development and integration, close

critical engineering gaps across our IoT platform, and own field deployments and customer

success at renewable energy projects, data centers, utilities, and other critical power

infrastructure sites. This is a highly hands-on role with opportunities to travel, work directly with

customers, and help shape our validated prototypes into a scalable Gen 1 commercial product.

What You'll Own

Product Development

  • Contribute to the development of Magnefy's IoT sensing platform for transformer and inverter monitoring.
  • Support hardware integration, system bring-up, validation, and reliability testing.
  • Build, assemble, and validate pilot units while improving manufacturing and test processes internally and with the contract manufacturers.
  • Work closely with hardware, firmware and AI/ML teams to rapidly iterate on customer feedback.

Field Deployment & Customer Success

  • Own end-to-end pilot deployments at renewable generation sites, T&D substations, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and other customer locations.
  • Configure and commission devices, networking, cloud connectivity, and data infrastructure against agreed success criteria.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for installation, onboarding, troubleshooting, and post-deployment support.
  • Perform system testing, signal validation, and root-cause analysis, translating field learnings into product and deployment improvements.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Deliver successful pilots with the engineering and business development teams.
  • Help establish scalable deployment, testing, documentation, and quality processes as we grow.
  • Represent customer needs throughout product development and commercialization.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0โ€“3 years of relevant industry or applied research experience, with a strong foundation in electrical engineering, IoT product development, embedded systems, or instrumentation; strong new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Hands-on experience integrating, testing, and debugging sensors, embedded hardware, networking, and cloud-connected systems.
  • Comfortable supporting hands-on installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at renewable energy projects, substations, and other industrial field sites.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
  • Willingness to travel (20-30%) for customer deployments and field testing.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in developing and deploying IoT products for energy or industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with transformers, inverters or industrial equipment monitoring.
  • Experience with IoT communication protocols (MQTT, Modbus, etc.).
  • Experience with Python, hardware test automation, or cloud IoT platforms.
  • Startup experience or demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.

Who You Are

  • You take ownership and enjoy solving problems end-to-end.
  • You care about customers and measure success by their outcomes.
  • You communicate clearly and proactively.
  • You learn quickly and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
  • You're organized, detail-oriented, and execute with urgency.
  • You enjoy wearing multiple hats and building things from scratch.

Why Join Magnefy?

  • Build technology that improves the reliability of critical power infrastructure.
  • Work directly with the founding team and influence product strategy from day one.
  • Own one of the most important functions in the companyโ€”from prototype to customer success.
  • Gain hands-on experience across sensing hardware, IoT systems, AI integration, and customer deployments.
  • Competitive salary, meaningful founding equity, and the opportunity to grow into a technical leadership role.
