Job description

Apprentice Bartender
POSITION PURPOSE:
Work directly with and assist bartender to assure satisfaction and comfort, while maintaining a clean, organized and well stocked bar. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Carry work cards at all times during shift.
  2. Serve alcohol responsible in accordance with alcohol awareness training.
  3. Inform your immediate supervisor of any product shortages and equipment needs.
  4. Always conduct yourself in a manner that reflects a positive and professional image.
  5. Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so. Comply with Board of Health Standards.
  6. Must maintain good personal grooming and uniform standards while on duty.
  7. Have knowledge of where your MSDS booklet is located for your area.
  8. Displays knowledge of all emergency procedures.
  9. Responsible for informing your immediate supervisor on duty of any team member or guest opportunities.
  10. Performs any other duties as directed by management.
  11. Promotes a safe and clean environment for fellow team members and guests.
  12. Always keep your work area clean.
  13. Follow correct cash and comp procedures.
  14. Posse’s knowledge of all drink recipes.
  15. Know standard method for pouring drinks.
  16. Posse’s knowledge of the types of glasses and brand names of products offered. Be familiar with items that may substitute for others that are in stock.
  17. Maintain a well stocked bar including condiments, beer, wine, liquor, ice and other related products.
  18. Perform all cleaning and stocking functions.
  19. Maintain the cleanliness of glass washer, ice machine, and margarita machine, pouring guns and holders and dip trays. Clean all coolers, as well as the back bar and front bar surfaces and display areas. Clean and wipe all display bottles, point of sale displays and any other items or surfaces in the view of the internal and external guests.
  20. Have the ability to operate and maintain all front bar equipment and systems.
  21. Maintain all aspects of the bar in accordance with Health Department standards.
  22. Have the ability to utilize all specified cleaners and disinfectants according to Health Department standards.
  23. Perform various tasks, including but not limited to assisting the needs of the bartender, assisting the cocktail servers and assisting management by enforcing company policies and standards.
  24. Handle company funds through cash transactions on the Point of Sale system in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
  1. Must manage time effectively with minimum supervision.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in English both in written and verbal form.
  3. Ability to make quick judgment decisions.
  4. Must be able to handle a flexible schedule.
  5. Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend or reach to a height of 6 feet with or without reasonable accommodations.
  6. Requires normal, corrected vision range and absence of color blindness. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
  7. Requires eye/hand coordination. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound. Requires regular and predictable attendance. Requires good verbal communication skills.
OTHER:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smokey indoor service. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 foot access. Task performed from a non-sitting position. Team Members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of an assigned area and constant contact with team members and guests.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL and ABILITY:
  1. Knowledge of all drink recipes.
  2. Passes knowledge of the types of glasses and brand names of the products offered. Be familiar with items that may be substituted for others that are not in stock.
  3. Ability to handle company funds through cash transactions on the P.O.S. system in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
  4. Have extensive knowledge of micros or other P.O.S. system.
  5. Above average mathematics aptitude.
  6. Above average manual dexterity.
  7. Good people skills.
  8. Able to communicate and work well with others.
  9. Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience: Minimum one year experience in a similar capacity preferred.
Licenses or Certificates: Must be able to obtain all required work cards for the jurisdiction in which the property is located.
