Job description

Job Purpose

Manage the full life cycle of a large portfolio of bakery ingredients (icings, fillings, and glazes) / products (cookies, cakes, pies, and muffins+), including new product development, ongoing product maintenance and optimization, and product discontinuation. Support development of product and category growth strategies, selling stories and materials, product trainings, and competitive landscape reviews. Represent the Product Marketing team in cross-functional initiatives supporting business health and growth.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the product lifecycle of assigned portfolio categories: new product development, ongoing product maintenance and optimization, and discontinuation
  • Become a market expert in owned product categories: understand and apply market-relevant trends and competitive knowledge to portfolio management
  • Help ensure product marketing activities are aligned to company/category priorities and support the objectives of the overall business
  • Support development of near-term and long-term product and category growth strategies
  • Help define and share compelling product and category selling stories
  • Support general portfolio management: review and align on product catalogs, seasonal programs, website content, and product trainings
  • Support business case development for relevant product development and optimization opportunities
  • Prepare and align product-related customer communications
  • Analyze and publish reports that support Product Marketing and relevant cross-functional initiatives
  • Support customer-centric ideation and innovation work streams
  • Support product training: material development and live training sessions
  • Support cross-functional process alignment
  • Support food safety program, quality standards, and legality of manufactured products
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field
  • 5+ years of product management or related experience
  • B2B or B2C food industry experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence and motivate others
  • Desire to improve processes, products, and services
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships
