Lead Product Engineer

FinQuery

Atlanta, GA • On-site

Full-time

Medical, Life, Retirement, PTO

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

FinQuery stands at the forefront of accounting automation, driven by a deep specialty in contract-driven accounting. Our AI-enabled platform transforms how controllers and finance teams operate, seamlessly managing and accounting for the complex financial contracts-like leases, prepaids, and accruals-that are the backbone of modern business. We are not just a software provider; we are the unified subledger that eliminates time-intensive, error-prone technical accounting workflows, ensuring financial reports are accurate and empowering our customers to focus on strategic, high-value tasks.

FinQuery is the global leader in lease accounting (as recognized on G2.com) and serve more than 8,500 customers worldwide. Our growth trajectory has been consistently validated by the Inc 5000, which has recognized us as one of the fastest-growing private companies for five consecutive years.

Solve the Problems That Matter Most:

FinQuery is transforming how corporations manage compliance, leases, and financial contracts across our expanding software ecosystem. To drive this next phase of growth, we've shifted away from the traditional, rigid Product Manager role. We are looking for a Lead Product Engineer (Platform),a title we use to describe an agentically focused, highly technical Lead Product Manager.

In this role, you do not need to be a software developer or write production code. However, you do need to be highly technically literate. You will sit horizontally across our entire software ecosystem, owning the strategy, data logic, and foundational frameworks that power all FinQuery applications. You will be responsible for defining how our platform shares data, orchestrating AI-driven agentic workflows, and bridging the gap between business compliance and complex system architecture. If you are a high-agency product leader who loves thinking in systems, data schemas, and automation frameworks, this is your seat.

How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Own the Platform Strategy: Drive the multi-quarter roadmap for FinQuery's core platform capabilities. Ensure our shared services, data models, and integrations scale seamlessly to support our suite of financial products.

  • Orchestrate Agentic AI Frameworks: Define the business logic, triggers, and guardrails for automated AI workflows. You will map out how AI agents interact with our systems to automate complex financial accounting bottlenecks.

  • Design Platform Interoperability: Map out clean data flows, API requirements, and Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) exception-handling workflows that unify user experiences across lease accounting, SaaS management, and financial subledgers.

  • Master Context Engineering: Treat product specifications and system documentation as a form of architecture. You will structure high-clarity feature definitions and system constraints specifically optimized to guide technical teams and AI-assisted development tools.

  • Partner Deeply with Engineering: Act as a peer to our core technical architects. Because you speak their language, you will easily collaborate on technical trade-offs, schema designs, and performance requirements without needing to write the code yourself.

The Expertise You'll Bring:
  • The Product Foundation: 5+ years of experience in a product management role (Product Manager, Product Owner, or Systems Analyst) managing platform infrastructure, shared services, or multi-tenant B2B SaaS environments.

  • High Technical Literacy: You don't need a CS degree or coding background, but you must be deeply comfortable discussing system architecture. You should easily understand relational database concepts (SQL), API structures (REST/GraphQL), and how data moves through a cloud-based (AWS) environment.

  • Agentic & AI Fluency: Active curiosity and comfort using LLMs, prompt engineering, and workflow automation tools. You understand how to leverage AI as a force multiplier to accelerate product scoping and data mapping.

  • Systems Thinking: A proven track record of looking at product challenges holistically; understanding how a change in a core database or platform layer impacts multiple downstream applications and users.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, MIS, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in technical product management.

Nice To Haves
  • Experience working in FinTech, accounting technology, or platforms dealing with strict compliance frameworks.

  • Experience defining developer-experience (DX) standards or internal platform tools.

What Great Looks Like Here
  • Extreme Agency: You operate with a founder's mindset. You don't wait for a technical spec to be handed to you; you proactively identify architectural gaps in the platform, sketch out the data flow, and align engineering to build it.

  • Translational Brilliance: You can sit with a technical accountant to understand a complex compliance standard, map it out as a logical system flow, and explain the architecture clearly to a developer.

  • Platform-First Mindset: You naturally reject one-off feature requests in favor of scalable, reusable horizontal platform solutions that benefit the entire ecosystem.

$129,007 - $169,658 a year
The base pay range for this position is $129,007 - $169,658. Please note: The final base pay for this position will be determined in FinQuery's sole discretion consistent with applicable law, and based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's skills, qualifications for the role, job-related knowledge, work experience, and FinQuery's business and other operational considerations.
