THE ROLE:

This Product Development Engineer is a senior technical leadership role within AMD's APU Product Engineering organization, responsible for delivering production-ready test and product solutions from silicon bring-up through high-volume manufacturing. This hands-on position leads product characterization, test strategy, design-for-test (DFT) planning, performance optimization, and ATE test development while partnering closely with Product Engineering, Design, Validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and successful execution across the product lifecycle.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and results-oriented leader who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. You are passionate about solving challenging semiconductor problems, influencing cross-functional teams, and driving execution through data-driven decision making. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, sound technical judgment, and the ability to lead initiatives that improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead product test strategy, DFT planning, and ATE solution development for APU products.
  • Drive silicon bring-up, characterization, product definition, and performance optimization activities.
  • Optimize product quality, yield, test coverage, and manufacturing costs to maximize business value.
  • Collaborate with Design, Validation, Product Engineering, and Hardware Infrastructure teams to define production test and debug solutions.
  • Develop, validate, and troubleshoot ATE hardware, software, and test programs across manufacturing environments.
  • Mentor engineers and drive scalable automation, infrastructure, and best practices across product lines.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong experience in semiconductor product engineering, test development, silicon validation, manufacturing, or device physics.
  • Expertise with ATE platforms, preferably Advantest V93K, and production test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of high-speed interfaces and subsystems including PCIe, USB, DDR, JTAG, I2C/I3C, GPIO, and PLLs.
  • Experience with silicon performance optimization, power management, yield improvement, and product characterization.
  • Proficiency in Python, scripting, automation tools, Git, Linux/Unix, Windows, and modern development environments.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, data analysis, communication, and AI/ML-enabled continuous improvement experience.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

Location: Austin, TX
