As we continue to scale, we're looking for a Head of Product Development to lead the evolution of our product offering and build the systems, supplier network, and development processes that will support the next stage of growth.


About The Role

The Head of Product Development will own the complete product development lifecycle, from initial concept through production readiness.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in technical apparel, performance wear, athletic apparel, or outdoor products who understands how to translate product vision into commercially successful products.


You will work closely with the founders to bring seasonal collections to life while developing scalable processes that improve quality, consistency, and speed-to-market.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing product development, sourcing, technical execution, supplier relationships, and production readiness across multiple seasonal launches throughout the year.


Key Responsibilities


Product Development Leadership
  • Lead the development of all seasonal product collections.
  • Build and manage product development calendars and timelines.
  • Translate creative direction into executable product plans.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Establish and continuously improve product development processes.
  • Maintain development schedules and ensure milestone completion.
Product Design & Technical Execution
  • Collaborate with founders and creative stakeholders on seasonal direction.
  • Create and manage detailed tech packs and product specifications.
  • Review construction methods, garment details, and performance features.
  • Oversee fit development and fit approval processes.
  • Manage sample reviews and product revisions.
  • Ensure products meet performance, durability, and quality expectations.
Fabric, Trim & Material Development
  • Source and evaluate fabrics, trims, and components.
  • Research new material innovations and manufacturing techniques.
  • Develop fabric libraries and material standards.
  • Evaluate products for functionality, comfort, durability, and performance.
  • Work with suppliers to improve product quality and consistency.
Factory & Supplier Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard manufacturing partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and factories.
  • Manage communication with domestic and international partners.
  • Negotiate development costs, production costs, and timelines.
  • Support supplier diversification strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and quality standards.
Sampling & Product Testing
  • Coordinate prototype, development, and pre-production samples.
  • Manage sample tracking and revision processes.
  • Organize product testing and wear testing programs.
  • Collect and implement athlete and customer feedback.
  • Ensure all revisions are documented and communicated effectively.
Production Readiness
  • Partner with operations and production teams to ensure launch readiness.
  • Review production specifications before manufacturing begins.
  • Assist with quality assurance procedures.
  • Support production planning and forecasting initiatives.
  • Identify risks and proactively recommend solutions.
Product Strategy & Innovation
  • Stay informed on industry trends, materials, and emerging technologies.
  • Monitor competitive brands and market developments.
  • Recommend product opportunities and category expansions.
  • Help shape the future direction of the EBC product assortment.
  • Contribute to long-term product strategy and roadmap planning.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in apparel product development, technical design, sourcing, or related fields.
  • Experience developing performance apparel, athletic apparel, outdoor apparel, or technical products.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience creating and managing tech packs and product specifications.
  • Experience working directly with overseas manufacturing partners.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with product development tools and workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within running, endurance, outdoor, or athletic brands.
  • Experience scaling product operations within a growing company.
  • Existing supplier and manufacturing relationships.
  • Experience sourcing performance fabrics and technical materials.
