Job Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

Product Builder is a junior to mid-level, highly versatile product generalist who helps turn strategy into shipped products and agents at speed. Reporting into Product, but assigned to the Wheels X speedboat team, you will own product discovery, requirements, and delivery for high-impact initiatives, particularly across vehicle registration (initial and renewals) and operational products, ensuring engineers and AI agents are always working against clear, well-scoped problems definitions.

This is a hands-on builder role: part product manager, part agent builder, part product designer, part technical problem-solver. You will run discovery with operations, clients, drivers and our Product Operations Leader, translate user needs into crisp requirements, partner closely with engineers day-to-day, and push work across the finish line. Paired with a deeply technical engineering team, this position emphasizes hands-on product development and technical problem-solving over operational work.

Success in this role means accelerating velocity, reducing rework, and unlocking EBITDA impact-by making sure the right product work happens before engineers build. You will thrive in ambiguity, move fast without perfect information, and take full ownership of outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Product Discovery & Definition
    • Conduct user and operator interviews to identify pain points, needs, and opportunities.
    • Lead lightweight but effective discovery cycles and prototyping-problem framing, solution exploration, and validation.
    • Translate messy inputs into clear problem statements, user journeys, and success metrics.
  • Product Execution
    • Write clear, actionable user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
    • Partner daily with engineers to scope, sequence, and refine work.
    • Ensure engineering is rarely blocked due to unclear requirements or missing product decisions.
    • Own features end-to-end-from discovery through delivery and iteration.
    • Align stakeholders around scope, tradeoffs, and delivery timelines.
  • Design & Prototyping
    • Rapidly design and prototype solutions (wireframes, workflows, functional demos) to drive alignment, using AI and low-code tools to accelerate iteration and validation.
    • Collaborate with design and engineering partners to rapidly iterate solutions.
  • AI-First Product Development
    • Leverage AI tools and agents to accelerate discovery, documentation, analysis, and delivery.
    • Actively explore where AI can improve product workflows, user experience, and internal efficiency.
  • Agent Development
    • Build products and workflows with an Agent-first mindset
    • Design, build, and deploy AI agents that automate end-to-end workflows, moving beyond demo use cases into scalable, production environments.
    • Help define agent scope, decision boundaries, and human-in-the-loop controls, ensuring autonomy is applied thoughtfully and safely.
    • Use real-world usage and feedback to continuously improve agent performance, reliability, and user experience.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No direct reports.
  • Leads through ownership, clarity, and quality of execution.
  • Acts as a strong product partner and role model within the Wheels X team.

COMPETENCIES - SKILLS

  • End-to-End Product Ownership: Comfortable owning problems from discovery to shipped solution.
  • Bias for Action: Moves quickly, makes decisions with incomplete data, and iterates fast.
  • Product Instincts: Strong intuition for user needs, workflows, and practical solutions.
  • Technical Fluency: Able to work closely with engineers, understand system constraints, and discuss tradeoffs.
  • Systems Thinking: Understands how frontend, backend, data, and operations connect.
  • Clear Communication: Writes precise requirements and explains complex ideas simply.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities.
  • AI-First Mindset: Curious, experimental, and proactive in using AI tools day-to-day.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (STEM) or business
  • 2-4 years of experience in a product, technical, or builder role at a fast-paced technology company. Preferably experience with deploying AI agents in production environments
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • User research and requirements gathering
  • Writing user stories and PRDs
  • Partnering closely with engineers in delivery
  • Experience building prototypes, rapid iterations and demos with an AI first mindset to gather user feedback early and quickly
  • Prior exposure to operations-heavy or workflow-driven products is a plus (not required).
