SENIOR CONSTRUCTION PERFORMANCE ANALYST

The Senior Construction Performance Analyst plays a senior analytical role within Digital Operations, partnering with Construction Operations and Project Controls teams to analyze project data to help improve project outcomes and business performance. Reporting to the Analytics Manager within Digital Operations, this role serves as a bridge between Construction Operations, Project Controls, and Enterprise Analytics. The position combines deep project controls expertise with strong analytical capabilities to help project teams and operational leaders better understand performance, identify risks earlier, improve forecasting accuracy, and make more informed decisions.

This role is responsible for applying construction domain expertise to the development, validation, and adoption of project performance analytics, reporting solutions, and operational insights. Working closely with project teams, operational leadership, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Data Governance, the Senior Construction Performance Analyst develops analytical models, reporting solutions, and performance insights that improve visibility across projects and portfolios. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of project delivery combined with the ability to translate complex operational realities into meaningful metrics, reporting, and insights. The emphasis is on improving how McGough measures, predicts, and manages project performance through data-driven decision making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Analytics, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project controls, project management, scheduling, cost engineering, forecasting, construction operations, or project performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, forecasting, budgeting, cost management, scheduling, productivity measurement, and operational KPIs.
  • Experience working with construction project controls, ERP, scheduling, and reporting systems.
  • Experience defining, analyzing, and communicating project performance metrics.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with construction platforms such as CostX, Primavera P6, CMiC, Procore, or similar systems.
  • Experience supporting portfolio-level reporting and operational performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with forecasting methodologies, variance analysis, and project performance management.
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with enterprise reporting datasets.
  • Experience developing dashboards and visualizations in Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering or analytics teams to deliver reporting solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Project Performance & Intelligence:

  • Develop and maintain analytical models, performance reporting, and KPI reporting structures that improve project visibility and decision-making.
  • Analyze trends in cost, schedule, productivity, labor, forecasting, and operational performance.
  • Support project health reviews, forecasting processes, and variance analysis efforts.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and performance improvement actions across projects and portfolios.
  • Lead complex analytical efforts that improve understanding of project performance, forecasting, and operational outcomes.

Analytics & Reporting Solutions:

  • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and reporting solutions that support project and portfolio performance management.
  • Partner with Business Intelligence Analysts and Data Engineers to develop scalable reporting solutions.
  • Validate data quality, KPI definitions, and reporting accuracy.
  • Ensure reporting and analytics reflect actual project execution and operational realities.
  • Develop analytical approaches that improve visibility into project performance and portfolio health.

Operational Partnership & Advisory:

  • Facilitate discussions around KPI adoption, forecasting accuracy, performance measurement, and reporting standards.
  • Partner with construction leadership to understand performance reporting needs and validate analytical outputs.
  • Provide construction domain expertise that improves the accuracy, relevance, and adoption of analytical solutions.

Performance Standardization & Continuous Improvement:

  • Partner with Data Governance and Operations leadership to improve consistency of project controls metrics, definitions, and reporting standards.
  • Support the adoption of standardized reporting approaches and analytical best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve visibility, forecasting accuracy, and performance management practices.
  • Contribute construction domain expertise to enterprise analytics initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support adoption of data-driven decision-making throughout project delivery teams.

OFFICE AND TRAVEL:

  • Position will be based in McGough's Raleigh, NC Office.
  • McGough supports a hybrid work schedule, with exact days and times defined by manager and team.
  • Travel is expected to be approximately 20% consisting of quarterly trips to McGough's headquarters for various training or team building activities. Additional travel to various national office locations may be required as determined by the individual and their manager.
