POSITION SUMMARY:
The Produce Manager oversees daily produce operations and provides leadership and direction to achieve profitable produce operations. The Produce Manager is to continually grow the team's capacity for efficiency, effectiveness, and service to meet the company's succession needs. The individual is responsible for the development of all direct reports. The Produce Manager is to be a role model of the company by driving results while maintaining company core values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Responsible for ordering, compliance and sanitation, produce inventory and controls, and management of workplace and department safety, as well as reporting, financial control, and budget responsibilities;
* Effectively supervise, train, schedule and conduct annual performance reviews on all produce department personnel;
* Review Team Members' weekly schedule to ensure a fully-staffed department;
* Stock, rotate, and organize items on shelves as required;
* Ensure shelves are organized with product labels;
* Provide exceptional service and ensure the products are handled properly, date controls are performed, ensure freshest products are rotated properly so that they are available to customers;
* Greet and interact with customers to address questions or concerns in a friendly and service- oriented manner;
* Follow approved produce department plans for an effective space management based on movement; consumer demand and profitability;
* Control purchases by constantly monitoring and improving produce operations to increase profitability, combined with managing labor costs and reducing loss due to shrink;
* Maintain specified inventory levels;
* Unload trucks from distribution center, and verify all deliveries against invoices, note shortages and overages, and report them to the appropriate supplier;
* Provide flexibility by helping in any area to support store needs.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Valid Food Handler's Card;
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Produce/Grocery background
* Prior leadership/management experience preferred
* Customer Service experience desirable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS:
The physical demands and work conditions below represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:
WALKING: Continuously, throughout the day, while moving about the store and obtaining product from the warehouse.
STANDING: Continuously, throughout the shift while stocking product.
LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
