Job description

Summary Under limited direction from the Human Resource Director, responsible for performing a broad range of professional and complex compensation analysis to ensure equitable and competitive compensation to attract and retain employees. Benefits: vacation/personal sick leave, health benefits (medical/dental/vision),401k, short/long-term disability, 14 holidays Wage offer will be based on experience and will not exceed the mid-point of the salary/wage range. Employees may progress through the full salary range subject to their successful performance and annual budget approval.

Minimum Qualifications Three years' experience working within the compensation function doing professional level research and data analysis. Bachelor's degree preferred. Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is qualifying.

Advanced skill in utilizing MS Excel and Word. Prefer CCP and/or PHR/SPHR certifications and possess experience with UKGPro. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements.

Must successfully complete and pass a background check. Examples of Duties Key contributor to the administration of the annual merit process and performance evaluation program along with responsibilities that include researching and analyzing market data, salary surveys and other compensation related resources to provide reports and recommendations on effective pay ranges and salary budget recommendations. Identifies best practices in compensation that aim at continuous improvement in compensation program and strategic direction in the development, implementation and maintenance of Ak-Chin compensation program.

Executes annual market review including compiling survey results, conducting detailed analysis and participating in the development of recommendations. Responsible for benchmarking, market analysis, compensation planning, annual salary review, salary administration and development of compensation communications. Performs job analysis and writes job descriptions, conducts job classification reviews including over-time eligibility, comparability of job classifications, statistical analysis of compensation data in order to slot position, creates job family/levels; determines appropriate salary and job title based on research and analysis and submits recommended salary to HR Director for final review.

Accountable for participating in annual surveys and/or conducting ad hoc/ custom surveys, as required, to address specific compensation needs and market competitiveness. Handles a variety of complex and sensitive compensation matters. Maintains compensation data within the HRIS and compensation software system.

Acts as back-up for bi-weekly payroll processing. Performs variety of calculations and produces reports using advanced features of Excel. Maintains job descriptions and pay grade, job code and job family tables.

Interprets and explains compensation practices to management and employees. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Community Council, staff at all levels and professionals in the HR field and the general public. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements Human Resources theories, principles and practices. Principles and practices of compensation and classification, including development and maintenance of a compensation system. Methods used in the analysis and classification of positions.

Development and maintenance of salary plans. Data compilation and analysis techniques. Microsoft Windows Office products, internet and HRIS technology.

Interpret and apply regulations and policies. Perform detail-oriented and quality work products. Work with highly sensitive, confidential and emotional situations and assignments.

Make mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions. Provide thoughtful and thorough analysis, draw conclusions and make recommendations. Listen, communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of people.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments. Proficiently perform computerized data analysis, word processing, summarizing and writing/editing. Write clear and concise reports and develop descriptive materials for management review.
