Minimum Job Requirements
  • Physical - proficient in using a PC keyboard.
  • Requires ability to physically move about the manufacturing floor with or without accommodation.
  • Requires good visual acuity to determine effectiveness of coating processes.
  • Ability to travel 4-6 weeks/year.
  • Working Hours - fulltime (45+ hrs/week) employment

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibility for all facets of the Coating Dept. including all shifts. Responsible for meeting production deadlines and supervising assigned manufacturing employees. This position is expected to continually analyze the efficiency of the department and make recommendations for improvement. Authority to hire and fire employees subject to company policies. Authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day-to-day operation of the plant, as well as manage assigned budget. Manage capital equipment projects and identity capital equipment needs for area.
  • Supervise and develop assigned manufacturing personnel.
  • Determine manpower requirements to most efficiently produce product and meet production deadlines.
  • Design and implement process improvements and work with project management to develop the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure that chemical titrations are checked and that other processes are working properly so as to produce a good product.
  • Work closely with Quality Manager/Engineer to ensure quality and AS9100 standards are met and upheld in all assigned manufacturing areas.
  • Ensure all employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Review production schedules and ensure output meets required deadlines.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication, both verbal and written, is accurate and effective.
  • Supervise and monitor department employees; including hiring, terminating, performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for inventory control, including monthly physical and/or cycle counts in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work with HR to ensure that areas are adequately staffed to meet the demands.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure directives of the Production Manager and company policies are carried out throughout the organization.
  • Ensure continuous improvements and corrective/preventive actions are carried out, planned and implemented in all departments.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations to ensure effective corrections and implementation.
  • Ensure adequate supervision is present in the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.
  • Ensure government requirements and regulations are followed.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent understanding of mechanized powder coating operations, including pretreatment processes and related waste treatment processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a changing environment and manage assigned areas working to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others while remaining unbiased and fair in all personnel related actions.
  • Must have strong multitasking skills and the ability to perform in a high paced environment.
  • Strong teambuilding and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution experience desired.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working with and understanding ISO requirements, AS9100 is preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and ERP type production, costing, inventory control and purchasing system.
  • Experience with an MRP system, six sigma and SS is desired.

Education and Experience
  • Experienced in high volume, low to medium mix manufacturing with a focus in Powder Coating of metal parts.
  • Five years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • 3 years supervisory experience required.
