Quality Inspector

$18.00 - $25.00 an hour | Full-time | Monday to Friday | Ramsey, NJ

Our client has been a leader in flexible composite materials since 1970. What started as a design and testing facility grew into a full manufacturing operation, producing fuel bladders and composite components for the motorsport, automotive, marine, defense, aviation, and aerospace industries. With agents and distributors around the world and a sister company in the UK, we're a trusted name behind some of the most demanding fuel storage and containment products on the market.

Job Overview

We're looking for a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team. In this role, you'll conduct pressure tests and inspections on products and incoming goods, catching issues before they become problems and reporting findings to the Quality Supervisor. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in keeping our products safe, compliant, and built to spec.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and pressure test machined, fabricated, electrical, and composite parts, reporting any issues found
  • Inspect, mark, and process bladders from cell production through final assembly and dispatch
  • Label inspected parts and maintain accurate records in our ERP system and MS Excel logs
  • Support buddy checks within engineering, moulding, and final assembly departments
  • Partner with the Quality team to drive continuous improvement across the department
  • Support Quality Control requirements across all production areas
  • Use hand metrology equipment for quality control checks
  • Produce inspection reports for items requiring First Article Inspection
  • Maintain QMS critical logs, including FIA serial numbers and bond viscosity records
  • Assess customer-returned bladders prior to repair or recertification
  • Raise internal and supplier non-conformance reports and complete product improvement reports
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate party in a timely manner
  • Record daily inspection/test results and non-conforming activity on worksheets
  • Score manufacturing quality (internal/external) using the cell scoring matrix
  • Ability to stand for 6-8 hours per day

Qualifications

  • Fluent in spoken and written English (required)
  • Relevant professional experience (required)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings (required)
  • Experience with basic and electronic metrology equipment (required)
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Knowledge of FactoryMaster ERP a plus (training provided)
  • Experience with ISO 9001 QMS a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant FIA regulations and standards a plus (training provided)
  • Knowledge of relevant TS/VDA standards a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An engineering-related qualification is a plus
