Job Summary:

The Produce Clerk is responsible for ensuring fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables are well-stocked, attractively displayed, and properly maintained. This role includes unloading deliveries, rotating stock, trimming and watering produce, and helping customers with questions and product selection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stock, rotate, and merchandise fresh produce to meet store standards.
  • Inspect, cull, and trim produce to maintain quality and freshness.
  • Ensure displays are clean, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Assist in unloading produce deliveries and organizing backroom coolers.
  • Monitor product dates and remove expired or damaged items.
  • Maintain knowledge of current produce varieties, pricing, and promotions.
  • Water and mist produce as needed to maintain freshness.
  • Provide helpful, friendly customer service and answer product-related questions.
  • Follow proper food handling and safety guidelines.
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and sanitized.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior produce or grocery experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in cold environments (coolers, wet produce areas).
