Job Description

The Role

Drives company truck to deliver produce to customers on an assigned route. Assist warehouse in storing incoming produce, returning produce to coolers, fuels trucks and trailer refrigeration unit, occasionally pick produce orders, hook and unhook truck from trailer, inspect equipment, load, unload trailer, and breakdown pallets of produce. Fill out and complete required paperwork in a timely manner.

 Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To

  • Completes visual and hands on inspection of delivery vehicle (Small Pickup or 32000 GVW truck with 26 foot cargo box). 
  • Checks vehicle oil and water levels, tires, blinkers, leaf springs, horn, headlights, and flashers for proper operation.  Loads hand truck and/or pallet jack in truck. 
  • If driving small pickup, loads individual boxes of product into truck according to manifest.
  •  Notifies dispatcher of departure time and first stop.  Parks in designated areas. 
  • Greets customer and discusses returns or additional product needs and location of product drop.  Pulls ramp, operates lift gate, or opens tailgate to access product. 
  • Maintains effective product communications with customer and warehouse order selector team.
  • Has knowledge of product line, prices, delivery time, promotional services, and similar data, as required
  • Checks manifest to product being delivered and unload and transports to designated drop area, using hand truck or electric pallet jack. 
  • Down stacks product and loads empty pallet back in truck
  • Has customer sign for product delivered, accepts payment and writes credit slip as needed.  Loads hand truck or pallet jack back on truck.
  • At end of shift, returns to loading dock and unloads returned product and transports to check in/staging area.  Turns in paper work to dispatcher, and either loads with additional product or finishes.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

    Required Skills and Experience

    • Commercial Class B Driver’s License
    • At least one year of Class B driving experience
    • Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing and background check
    • Valid Medical Card
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
