Pay rate: $100,000 - $130,000 (DOE)

Location: Normal, IL

Job Type: Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday (40 hours)

Job Description:

A Strategic Procurement Manager job is currently available with our client. This is a direct hire opportunity with a growing electronics manufacturing organization. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the company's procurement strategy, supplier management, sourcing initiatives, ERP planning processes, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure material availability, cost competitiveness, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Planning, Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Finance to align procurement strategies with production schedules, inventory objectives, and long-term business growth. To be considered for this role, you should have progressive procurement leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, strong supplier negotiation skills, and experience working with ERP/MRP systems.


Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives that support cost, quality, delivery, and business growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships while evaluating supplier performance, capacity, quality, and risk.
  • Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, lead times, inventory programs, payment terms, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews and implement corrective actions when performance expectations are not met.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities through supplier consolidation, value analysis, process improvements, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Planning, Quality, Finance, and Program Management to support production and customer requirements.
  • Optimize inventory levels while maintaining high customer delivery performance and supporting working capital objectives.
  • Lead procurement continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance supplier performance.
  • Develop and track procurement KPIs including supplier performance, inventory health, purchasing effectiveness, and material availability.
  • Serve as the procurement process owner within the ERP/MRP system, maintaining planning parameters including lead times, order policies, planning calendars, and scheduling rules.
  • Ensure ERP planning data integrity and support system enhancements that improve procurement and planning performance.
  • Participate in Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) activities to balance customer demand, production capacity, and material availability.
  • Review customer forecasts and demand changes while developing supply strategies that minimize shortages and excess inventory.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and governance to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team that supports the organization's continued growth.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain, purchasing, operations, or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing procurement, purchasing, or supply chain teams.
  • Experience within electronics manufacturing services (EMS) or a complex manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems is required; Global Shop Solutions (GSS) experience is a plus.
  • Strong background in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, inventory management, demand planning, and capacity planning.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience analyzing procurement data and developing performance metrics.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPSM, Lean, or Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
