Position Summary

Position Summary:

The Planner is responsible for supporting APBU production execution by reviewing daily backlog, evaluating job starts, releasing work orders to the shop floor, and monitoring material and capacity constraints to support customer commitments. This role requires critical thinking beyond the immediate daily schedule, including the ability to anticipate production variation, identify planning bottlenecks through regular Gemba walks, and communicate challenges, risks, and improvement opportunities to management. The Planner will work cross-functionally with Operations, Materials, Procurement, Customer Service, Quality, and other support teams, while maintaining professional communication with customers regarding order status when needed. This position requires strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills, the ability to interpret MRP screens, and effective use of Parker planning and procurement tools such as eCapacity and eProcurement. Responsibilities

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
The Planner will report to either the Materials Manager or the Master Scheduler and will interact regularly with Operations, Materials, Procurement, Customer Service, Quality, Engineering, and other support functions to coordinate production priorities and resolve planning constraints. This role requires frequent communication with shop floor teams through daily work order release activities and multiple Gemba walks to identify bottlenecks, validate schedule execution, and support timely issue resolution. The Planner may also interact with customers regarding order status and delivery expectations, requiring clear communication, sound judgment, and professionalism when addressing difficult or time-sensitive topics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review daily backlog reports to evaluate job starts, production priorities, and alignment to customer requirements.

  • Release and maintain work orders to the shop floor on a daily basis to support production schedules and operational execution.

  • Monitor material availability, capacity constraints, and production readiness to ensure planned work can be executed effectively.

  • Read, interpret, and act upon MRP signals to support timely planning decisions, inventory accuracy, and customer delivery commitments.

  • Use Parker planning and procurement tools, including eCapacity and eProcurement, to support capacity planning, material coordination, and production execution.

  • Perform multiple daily Gemba walks on the shop floor to evaluate planning bottlenecks, confirm schedule progress, and identify barriers to output.

  • Communicate production risks, schedule changes, material shortages, and capacity concerns to management in a timely, clear, and actionable manner.

  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Materials, Procurement, Customer Service, Quality, Engineering, and other support teams to resolve planning issues and drive schedule adherence.

  • Collaborate with Parker international locations and teams, including Parker Germany, Parker France, Parker Belgium, and other global partners, to coordinate customer requirements, material availability, order status, and delivery expectations.

  • Maintain professional and effective communication with customers regarding order status, delivery timing, constraints, and recovery plans as needed.

  • Apply critical thinking to plan beyond the current day, accounting for variation in production output, changing priorities, customer demand, and resource constraints.

  • Participate in Kaizen events, continuous improvement initiatives, and problem-solving activities to improve planning processes, material flow, and production performance.

  • Bring forward constructive ideas and recommendations to improve planning systems, reporting, communication, and overall operational efficiency.

  • Maintain schedules, records, reports, and planning data to support visibility of work order status, backlog, inventory position, and production resource availability.

  • Use advanced Excel skills and data analysis to evaluate production trends, identify issues, support decision-making, and communicate planning performance.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

  • 1-3 years of experience in planning, scheduling, inventory control, production control, or materials management preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyze and interpret planning data.

  • Experience using Parker tools such as eCapacity and eProcurement preferred.

  • Ability to think critically, prioritize effectively, and respond calmly to changing production conditions.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
