Job description

Summary:
The Project Procurement Manager (PPM) is part of the center-led Procurement Team, achieving competitive advantage through the application of best practices in supply management and driving overall business profitability. The Project Procurement Manager has a thorough understanding of the total process flow and knowledge of the procurement and expediting systems and a working knowledge of the inspection, logistics and site material receiving systems. They work on assignments that are complex in nature, where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. They work under minimum departmental supervision. On larger projects this PPM may be assigned the lead position and take on the additional duties of managing a group of procurement specialists and logistics coordinators assigned to a project.
This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 3 days in office.
Requirements:
  • Functions as main point of contact to internal Project and Operations customers for Procurement.
  • Assists management to define and document the project specific procurement policy, strategy, and objectives and commitment to quality and ensures that this is understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels in the project.
  • Establishes and maintains procedures, based on company policies, to control processes and data that relate to the requirements of the supply management scope for the project.
  • Trains and mentors Procurement teammates.
  • Works with assigned Procurement teammates, as required, in contacting suppliers to obtain timely submission of production progress, documentation, shipment plans and delivery.
  • Expedites actions as needed (e.g., order action, stakeholder coordination, and reports).
  • Evaluates production schedules, shipping dates and progress reports from suppliers to determine if their programs and work progress meet jobsite, QA, and engineering requirements.
  • Coordinates the accumulation of data from Procurement Specialists and issues regular reports.
  • Participates in kick-off/procurement meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates as required.
  • Ensures the logistics coordinator or procurement specialist coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests as required.
  • As required, trips to site or supplier location.
  • Creates and executes procurement strategies in alignment with business goals and long-term plans, focusing on driving the procurement function.
  • Engages senior level teams (stakeholders) throughout the organization to ensure alignment with organizational strategic objectives and project needs.
  • Demonstrates leadership and expertise in eyes of internal teams.
  • Reports on project specific procurement progress.

  • Drives use of procurement best practices and standardization of procurement processes while minimizing supply risk.
  • Proactively engages in continuous improvement opportunities and evaluates and implements ways to better the Procurement Team.

Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree, or 10+ years’ military/education/relevant work/field experience combination.
  • 5 or more years’ experience managing and executing procurement project plans.
  • Ability to travel domestically 31 to 50%.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with procurement, expediting, logistics, inspection, receiving, asset and inventory management procedures.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills, including scenarios where information is uncertain and timeframes are tight.
  • Experience managing multiple projects of varying complexity successfully.
  • High level of competence with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC.
Highly desirable
  • Master’s degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree, or 10+ years’ military/education/relevant work/field experience combination.
  • ISM, CIPS, or PMP certification.
  • 10 or more years’ experience managing and executing procurement project plans.
  • Construction procurement experience with focus on renewables (Solar, Wind, Storage, T&D), preferably related to supply of major equipment and/or subcontracts.
  • Knowledge of renewable construction industry and associated field concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology.
  • Functional competencies include accountability, building strategic partnerships, business acumen, collaboration, and excellence.
Anticipated base salary range: $123,000 - $154,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
