Job description

Shimizu North America is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to oversee the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials, equipment, services, and labor for complex design and construction projects. This role ensures cost effective procurement strategies while maintaining quality standards, project timelines, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring projects are completed on time, under budget, and within scope by coordinating with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Responsibilities for this position and the required skills are listed below.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and update procurement strategies aligned with project goals and budgets
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, and others
  • Manage supplier and vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Work with Preconstruction team to issue RFQ's/RFP's, analyze bids, and recommend vendor selections
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks in the construction sector
  • Collaborate with PM's and Finance teams to forecast procurement needs
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials and services to meet project needs
  • Assist Site Administrative Assistant with contract administration tasks
  • Track and report on project procurement costs and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Procurement
  • Experience working on Industrial and Manufacturing or Commercial construction projects
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills required
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines for complex
