Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and evaluate suppliers for materials, services, equipment, and aerospace-related commodities.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and bid packages.
  • Create and process purchase orders, typically valued under $30,000, in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support supplier negotiations under the guidance of management and senior procurement personnel.
  • Monitor supplier acknowledgements, delivery schedules, and overall supplier performance.
  • Track past-due purchase orders and ensure SAP records and procurement documentation remain accurate and up to date.
  • Troubleshoot supplier invoice and payment issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • Analyze pricing, market trends, and supplier capabilities to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist senior buyers with procurement documentation, compliance records, and program review preparations.
  • Participate in supplier visits and support supplier relationship management activities.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procurement standards, and ethical business practices.
  • Perform additional procurement and supply chain projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

One of the following is required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with no prior purchasing experience required, OR
  • Associate Degree with at least 4 years of purchasing, procurement, subcontracting, or supply chain experience, OR
  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 8 years of related purchasing, procurement, subcontracting, or supply chain experience.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in government, industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, or defense procurement environments.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, purchasing practices, and contract administration.
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary company information.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation if required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance if required.
