Job description

Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a Cost and Accounting Analyst for a client within the material handling solutions industry.

Position Summary

The Cost & Accounting Analyst supports the organization's financial performance by analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining accurate inventory and cost data, and assisting with month-end close and financial reporting. This role partners with cross-functional teams to provide actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, profitability, and informed business decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standard costs while performing material, labor, and overhead variance analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support inventory accounting by reconciling inventory, validating cost of goods sold (COGS), and assisting with cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Prepare month-end cost accounting schedules, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, product margins, and cost trends to support budgeting, forecasting, and pricing decisions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain to improve cost accuracy and financial performance.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, audit support, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies while maintaining data integrity within the ERP system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience; manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments to support business objectives.

Compensation

Starts at $70,000 annually (DOE)
