Project Manager Architectural Millwork

Location: Oceanside, CA

Our client is a premier architectural millwork company specializing in custom casework, architectural millwork, finish carpentry, countertops, and specialty woodwork for commercial construction projects throughout Southern California. They partner with general contractors, architects, designers, and owners to deliver exceptional craftsmanship, outstanding customer service, and projects completed on schedule and within budget.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial architectural millwork projects from contract award through project closeout. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of custom millwork fabrication, shop drawings, production coordination, installation, and commercial construction. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between our clients, internal engineering and production teams, installers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple commercial millwork projects simultaneously from kickoff through closeout.
  • Review contracts, architectural drawings, specifications, and project scope.
  • Coordinate project schedules with engineering, production, purchasing, and installation teams.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and establish project timelines.
  • Review and manage shop drawing approvals.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Track project budgets, costs, labor, and profitability.
  • Work closely with estimators during project handoff to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Coordinate material procurement and long-lead items.
  • Maintain consistent communication with general contractors, architects, designers, and owners.
  • Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and support installation activities.
  • Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Manage punch lists, project closeout documentation, and warranty items.
  • Ensure projects meet company quality standards and client expectations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, finish carpentry, or custom woodworking.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and sequencing.
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, and shop drawings.
  • Experience managing custom casework, architectural millwork, countertops, and finish carpentry projects.
  • Working knowledge of AWI standards and architectural specifications preferred.
  • Experience coordinating shop drawings and fabrication schedules.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and project management software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or similar software is a plus.
  • Experience with Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction management platforms is preferred.
