Job description

We're looking for a Manager, Security Engineering to lead and build alongside Procore's innovative security squad. This isn't a sit back and delegate" role. You are a technical leader who leads from the front, spending a significant portion of your time architecting, coding, and deploying autonomous security systems alongside your team. You will advocate for a security-as-an-agent philosophy, moving Procore beyond manual workflows into a self-healing, intelligent ecosystem.

As a player-coach, you will be responsible for the growth and career development of your engineers while serving as the lead architect for our agentic infrastructure. You'll partner with Product & Technology, Security, GRC, and IT to ensure our security agents are high-performing, secure, and resilient. If you are a Staff-level engineer who has found a passion for building teams without wanting to leave the IDE behind-Apply today.

This position reports into the Senior Director, Security Engineering and will be based in our Austin, TX office. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • At Procore, AI isn't a specialized tool, it's a core competency. We expect every team member to be AI-literate, leveraging generative tools and agentic workflows to move faster and work smarter. You won't just use AI; you'll be building the agentic future of construction.

  • Build & Lead: Spend 30+% of your time as a hands on builder, architecting core agentic frameworks (LangChain, CrewAI) and writing production-grade Python/Go code.

  • Mentor & Coach: Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of engineers specializing in agentic security. You will transform traditional security mindsets into agentic builder mindsets, focusing on Python/Go mastery and AI orchestration.

  • Drive Agentic Roadmap Execution: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of autonomous security systems, including workload protection agents, automated remediation workflows, and agentic IAM guardrails.

  • Orchestrate the Agentic SDLC: Lead the integration of our AI agents into our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that autonomous threat modeling and code analysis become paved path standards for the company.

  • Secure the AI Frontier: Drive the implementation for protecting Procore's internal AI ecosystem. You will secure the implementation of prompt injection firewalls, RAG security protocols, and sandboxed agent execution environments.

  • Architect Self-Healing Infrastructure: Partner with Engineering teams to deploy agents capable of autonomously monitoring and fixing drift in our Kubernetes and Terraform-based environments.

  • Bridge Strategy and Code: Act as a technical leader who can dive into a design review for a LangChain or CrewAI workflow just as easily as you can discuss quarterly budget and headcount with the Senior Director.

  • Evangelize Agentic Security Engineering: Represent the team's mission to GRC, Audit, and Executive leadership, translating the reasoning of our autonomous agents into authoritative, trust-based context.

  • Continuous Innovation: Stay at the bleeding edge of the AI/LLM landscape, ensuring your team is utilizing the latest orchestration frameworks and defensive AI models.

What we're looking for:

  • Hybrid Leader: 6+ years in technical security with 2+ years of formal leadership. You must be able to pass a Staff-level coding and architecture interview.

  • Agentic Mastery: Production experience building and deploying autonomous agents. You can explain ReAct patterns and multi-agent orchestration because you've built them.

  • Software Pedigree: Expert-level Python or Go skills. You should be comfortable building complex distributed systems and teaching others to do the same.

  • Cloud & K8s Depth: Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes, with a focus on building isolated, secure compute environments for AI execution.

  • Security Transformation: Proven track record of shifting teams from traditional engineers to agent builders by shipping security solutions as code.

  • Ability to balance the player and coach responsibilities, maintaining team velocity while ensuring individual career growth.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or equivalent practical experience.
