Assistant Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in delivering retail, quick-serve restaurant (QSR), full-service restaurant and commercial construction projects on time, on budget and to quality standards. The Assistant Superintendent will manage daily site operations, coordinate subcontractors and trades, enforce safety and quality controls, and maintain project documentation. This role requires hands-on construction experience, strong communication skills and the ability to work across varied commercial environments including retail, restaurants, hotels and banking facilities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Superintendent in planning, sequencing and supervising all on-site construction activities for retail, QSR, restaurant and commercial projects.
  • Manage daily jobsite operations, including coordinating subcontractors, scheduling trades, monitoring productivity and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture; conduct site safety inspections, toolbox talks and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain quality control by inspecting work in progress, identifying deficiencies, coordinating corrective action and ensuring work meets specifications and drawings.
  • Use Procore or similar construction management platforms to maintain daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change logs, and as-built documentation (Procore experience preferred).
  • Communicate regularly with project stakeholders including superintendents, project managers, owners, and client representatives (including banking and hotel clients when applicable).
  • Assist with material deliveries, logistics, onsite layout and coordination to minimize downtime and support efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and manage punch lists, support project closeout activities, and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Support cost control efforts by tracking labor and material usage, reporting potential cost impacts and assisting with forecasting and schedule recovery plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of construction experience with progressive responsibility on retail, QSR, restaurant or commercial projects; prior Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, blueprints, specifications and project scheduling.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience using Procore or other construction management software is a plus.
  • Experience on banking and hotel projects is a plus and will be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with owners, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; must be able to pass background checks and, where required, site-specific pre-employment screenings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certificate in construction management, engineering or related field is a plus.
