DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the school principal/designee, the Grade/Scheduling Processoris responsible forimplementing the grade reporting process and performing duties associated with the master scheduling process.This is a position that requires a high degree of accuracy, accountability, attention to detail, and confidentiality.The principal or designated school administrator reviews work periodically for accuracy and conformance with general instructions.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED (must scan and upload to the online application). Education completed outside the United States must be evaluated by an MSDE approved organization. For a list of approved vendors, please clickhere.

Experience:

  • Three years ofgeneral office experience OR anAssociate'sdegree or equivalent may be substituted for the required work experience.Must be abletokeyboard at a moderate rate of speed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office database applications. Experience working in a school setting.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements tracking procedures and updates the student information management database per OIT specifications to ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of student information management system database.

  • Processes anddisseminatesstudent schedules, reportcards,and interims per software program requirements.

  • Trains school-based faculty on using grading tools.

  • Identifiesgrade issues and problemsin accordance withHCPSS policies and reports toappropriate schoolpersonnel.

  • Provides,compiles,and prioritizes reports fromnumerousdatabases for various groups and departments,includingFederal and State reporting.

  • Provides feedback on software issues or problems that arise inthe performanceof job responsibilities.

  • Tracks, verifies, and ensures all teachers' grades are properly entered intothe gradereporting system.

  • Processes student schedule changes and verify compliance with HCPSS policies.

  • Inputs,maintains,and updates the student master schedule.

Working Hours

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Compensation

This is a 10-month per year position in the Howard County Education Association, Educational Support Professionals (HCEA-ESP) employee unit.Thecurrent salary rangefor this positionisGrade VIII on theSecretaries and Assistants Salary Scale.Step placement will bein accordance withthe salary procedures of the Howard County Public School System and the HCEA-ESP Master Agreement which considers relevant prior experience. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position isnot exemptfrom overtime.

Retirement

Membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) pension plan is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in the State Personnel and Pensions Article and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). A qualifying employee cannot reject membership, nor can an ineligible employeeelectmembership.The annualcontribution to the pension plan will be 7% of an employee's annual salary.
