Job description

Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for achieving margin goals by accurately costing and proactivelymanaging Capital Projects. The Applications group provides a welldefined scope that the ProjectManager offers input to and utilizes to complete a detailed cost analysis. The Project Manager will apply margins, as directed by the Project Management Manager, and complete the quotation in a timely manner. Assigned capital projects will be managed following the project management process from quotation through installation and final customer acceptance. The Project Manager will interfacedirectly with Customers and internally with our District Sales Managers, Application Engineers,Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Service. Additionally, the ProjectManager will work with other company departments to ensure margins are maintained and regularlyreport on project status with the appropriate departments and management team.

Responsibilities
  • Gather technical specifications to devleop capital quotations by working with Applications, District Sales Managers and or Customers.
  • Develop cost estimates for capital quotations utilizing existing business systems, quoting programs, and other methods as necessary for non-standard applications.
  • Complete quotations as assigned on time and store all back up documentation along with costing.
  • Manage assigned projects and execute the project management process.
  • Manage projects from quotation through successful customer installation and acceptance.
  • Interface with other Kadant departments to ensure projects maintain expected margins and project schedules. Ensure that all customer order requirements are satisfied.
  • Comminicate project status on weekly basis and report any deviations from project schedule and gross margin expectations.
  • Work with QC and Manufacturing to make sure any deficiencies and non-conformances are addressed.
  • Coordinate all FAT activites as required.
  • Ensure that project documentation is properly stored.
  • Travel as needed to customer sites for certain capital equipment installations.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

Education/Experience: BS Degree in Pulp and Paper, Mechanical or Chemical engineering or 10 years minimum related experience.Judgment/Decision Making:Demonstrate consistent logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision making.
