Our Process Technician plays a critical role in bringing blow molding equipment to life - from start-up and commissioning to troubleshooting and performance optimization. This is a high-impact position where technical expertise meets real-world results for both our customers and our team.
Job Description
The Process Technician is responsible for the technical setup, start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, optimization, and customer support of blow molding equipment. This role combines advanced processing expertise with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills to ensure machines operate safely, efficiently, and within manufacturer specifications. The Process Technician supports customers and internal teams while driving performance improvements through a data-driven, project-oriented approach.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform start-up, commissioning, and optimization of blow molding equipment at customer and company locations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and processing-related issues.
  • Analyze schematics and machine data to diagnose malfunctions and improve performance.
  • Adjust and optimize processing parameters to ensure product quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Install retrofit components, perform field modifications, rebuilds, and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide technical support via phone and on-site visits, including advanced problem-solving assistance.
  • Train customers and internal personnel on machine operation, safety, maintenance, and processing best practices.
  • Assist Engineering, Production, and Applications teams with testing, process development, and project implementation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Complete detailed service and technical reports documenting work performed and recommendations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally (up to 60-70%) to provide service, technical support, and training.
  • Promote Bekum products and services while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in plastic processing, preferably blow molding.
  • Advanced proficiency in setup, operation, processing, and servicing of blow molding equipment.
  • Strong understanding of polymers, material behavior, and processing parameters.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong equipment and tooling proficiency.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends and optimize performance.
  • Experience managing technical projects or leading commissioning/start-up activities.
  • Associate's degree in a technical field required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
