FOOD PROCESSING MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Food Processing Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance, repair, and optimization of all equipment and machinery within a dynamic food manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all machinery and equipment, as well as driving process improvements and innovation to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities for the team, ensuring optimal productivity and minimal downtime.
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks and ensure work has been done correctly and safely.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and structural issues with machinery and facility systems including electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC.
  • Monitor work orders, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance projects.
  • Collaborate with the production team to address equipment performance issues and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee inventory of spare parts and supplies to maintain smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Repair and replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Perform TIG welding for equipment repairs, fabrication, and maintenance as required.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots of electrical and mechanical failure.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to support equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and installations.
  • Perform facility maintenance, including plumbing, patching walls, electrical repairs, etc.
  • Maintain accurate record of mechanical activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and service logs.
  • Follow GMP and Food Safety and comply with company policies.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience working in industries such as food processing, or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent people skills, know how to de-escalate tense moments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • SQF maintenance knowledge is an asset.
