Your Role as Assistant/Associate Athletic Director - Senior Woman Administrator:
Canisius University is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator. The Associate AD/SWA will assist in the daily operation for the University's Department of Athletics, provide leadership and managerial oversight in the areas of internal operations, student-athlete services, and sport supervision. The Associate AD/SWA is the recognized voice for female representation within the Department and is the highest-ranking female administrator for the Department. Canisius University is a member of the Division I Metro Conference.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration & Compliance:
  • Provide leadership, guidance & evaluation for all direct reports.
  • Represent the University as the Senior Woman Administrator at all Metro Conference and NCAA meetings.
  • Serve as a member of the Metro Conference Sport Management Committee and the Senior Woman Administrator Committee.
  • Provide leadership for searches for employment vacancies in supervisory areas and make recommendations for appointment to the Athletics Director.
  • Serve as the established liaison between the Faculty Athletics Representative and other campus academic, operational and student service units.
  • Prepare, in cooperation with other institutional staff, the required NCAA submission for Academic Enhancement, APR, GSR and Federal Graduation rates disclosures.
  • Reconcile the purchasing card transactions (Visa card) and reconciliation of the monthly transactions of all eligible staff in oversight.
  • Ensure, through oversight of the Department's Compliance staff, the University's overall compliance with Metro Conference, Atlantic Hockey and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Supervise the budget and accounting of the Athletic Financial Aid awards, including all endowed athletic aid awards and tracking for all sports.
  • Assist supervised units and programs with preparation of annual operating budgets and ensure compliance with that approved budget plan.
  • Athletic Department liaison with all institutional committees surrounding the student-athlete experience.
  • Ensure a continued commitment to gender and minority equity and that established goals and progress toward them is measured annually.
  • In concert with the Assistant AD for Compliance and Operations, manage the HR and ITS paperwork process for all staffing changes including full-time, part-time, volunteer, per diem and event operations
    • Communicate staffing changes with appropriate campus offices
    • Assist with the personnel requisition, posting and search process
  • Assist athletics personnel with the onboarding and offboarding process
  • Represent the Division of Athletics and the AD Staff in the planning of all special events related to women's athletics/WNY Girls in Sports Day.
  • Serve as a daily voice for gender issues within the Division of Athletics.
  • Responsible for the appointment and supervision of the GA for Student-Athlete Support Services
  • Oversee the qualification and distribution of the senior student-athlete luncheon, varsity letter award presentation and graduation regalia and awards.
  • Coordinate organization and planning of major athletic events including; Athletic Welcome Back Meeting, New Parent/Guardian sessions at New Griff Orientation, and the Annual Petey Awards Show.

Student-Athlete Development:
  • Oversee and coordinate Student-Athlete Advisory Committee meetings/events and direct the Student-Athlete Development programming.
  • Coordinate the Blue & Gold Alumni Networking Event
  • Manage the Bridge Athletic Online Education Platform in compliance with the NCAA Core Guarantee Requirements
  • Organize and serve and the main facilitator for the Golden Griffin Leadership Academy
  • Oversee the Golden Griffin Refueling Station management and operation.
  • Oversight of contractual employees servicing sport mental performance and dietetic needs for student-athletes.

Qualifications:
Education & CERTIFICATIONS :
  • A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.

Experience:
  • Coaching, playing, and/or recruiting experience at the Division I Level is preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising, communicating with students and professional staff is required.

KNOWLEDGE, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's license with a positive driving record per the university's insurance provider (with/or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS driver's license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
