Who You Are:
As our Sustaining Engineer at UECo, you will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure lighting fixtures meet design for manufacturing standards. This role is responsible for providing design, manufacturing and fabrication support.
A Day in the Life:
- Design development and review of existing products focusing on design for manufacturability, structural/risk assessment reviews and process flow.
- Jig and tooling design using Solidworks to support fabrication, production and assembly.
- Build audits of existing products to identify and execute on improvement opportunities.
- Creating models, assemblies and documentation using Solidworks.
- Manage engineering change requests in an organized and efficient manner.
- Evaluate and understand quality issues, determine root cause and develop effective resolutions.
- Assist and collaborate with Design, Process and Quality/Continuous Improvement personnel.
What Will Set You Up for Success:
- A two-year technical degree or bachelorโs degree in engineering is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment; familiarity with manufacturing equipment, manufacturing processes and hand tools
- Strong understanding of drafting and technical writing concepts
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience developing tooling/jigs
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay focused and keep information organized
- Ability to effectively communicate with all departments and levels of organization
- Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Able to prioritize workload to meet shifting responsibilities/needs
