Process Simulate information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Simulate Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Process Simulate Specialist, you need a strong background in industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, and 3D simulation, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Siemens Process Simulate software, knowledge of PLC programming, and familiarity with CAD systems are essential technical requirements. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this field. These capabilities are crucial for accurately modeling, optimizing, and communicating complex manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and reducing production risks.

What is the difference between Process Simulate vs Process Engineer?

AspectProcess SimulateProcess Engineer
Primary RoleUses simulation software to model manufacturing processesDesigns, develops, and optimizes manufacturing processes
Skills & CertificationsCAD/CAM, simulation software proficiency, technical engineering backgroundProcess design, project management, engineering certifications
Work EnvironmentTypically in software labs or engineering officesFactories, manufacturing plants, engineering offices
Industry UsageUsed by manufacturing and automation companies for process validationEmployed in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace industries for process development

While Process Simulate focuses on modeling and testing manufacturing processes virtually, Process Engineers are responsible for designing and implementing these processes in real-world settings. Both roles require technical expertise, but Process Simulate emphasizes simulation skills, whereas Process Engineers focus on practical process development and optimization.

How does a Process Simulate specialist typically collaborate with engineering and production teams during a project?

A Process Simulate specialist works closely with both engineering and production teams to develop, test, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment before implementation on the shop floor. This collaboration involves regular meetings to review simulation results, gather feedback on proposed process changes, and ensure alignment with production goals and constraints. Effective communication is key, as the specialist must translate technical simulation data into actionable insights for engineers and operators. Such teamwork helps identify potential bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and reduce costly errors during actual production ramp-up.

What is a Process Simulate engineer?

A Process Simulate engineer specializes in using simulation software—such as Siemens Process Simulate—to design, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment. Their main tasks include creating digital models of production lines, testing various process scenarios, and identifying improvements before physical implementation. This helps manufacturers save time, reduce costs, and minimize errors by addressing issues early in the design phase. Process Simulate engineers often collaborate closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure efficient and error-free manufacturing workflows.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Gas Processing Engineer to join our team in our Houston, TX Office. The Senior Gas Processing Engineer at Audubon provides technical leadership for the design, optimization, and execution of natural gas processing facilities, including treating, dehydration, compression, NGL recovery, fractionation, and related midstream systems. This role develops process simulations, equipment specifications, PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, and technical studies while supporting project teams from concept through detailed engineering and construction. The engineer serves as a subject matter expert, mentors' junior staff, coordinates with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and ensures designs meet safety, quality, regulatory, and operational requirements. Strong experience in gas processing technologies, project execution, and client-facing engineering support is essential.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical and strategic support to Audubon leadership for key customers, pursuits, and project opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic objectives for gas processing, midstream, and emerging energy services.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout all project phases, including conceptual design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction support, commissioning, start-up, and operations.
  • Lead, review, and support the design of natural gas midstream facilities, including cryogenic gas plants, dehydration units, amine treating units, NGL fractionation facilities, compressor stations, and related systems.
  • Develop, review, and validate process simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing, process design criteria, and technical deliverables using tools such as HYSYS, ProMax, and other applicable engineering software.
  • Provide technical business development support, including client engagement, proposal input, scope development, technical presentations, and project strategy.
  • Maintain active involvement in industry organizations, technical forums, and professional networks to strengthen Audubon's market presence and technical reputation.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, process improvements, and innovations that enhance efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and environmental performance.
  • Mentor, develop, and support the recruitment of engineering talent, including junior engineers, process specialists, and future technical leaders.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:

  • All employees are responsible for supporting Audubon Companies' Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This includes:
  • Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
  • Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Following safe work practices and complying with applicable regulatory requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to be in the customer plant, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in workplace can be loud to moderate depending on assignment.
