Job description

Job Title: Safety Professional – Ethanol Plant New Construction

Job Description

This role oversees safety for a new ethanol plant construction project, ensuring that all industrial and heavy construction activities comply with safety standards and best practices. The Safety Professional promotes a strong safety culture on site, reduces risk, and helps ensure that every team member works in a safe and compliant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all safety activities for the new ethanol plant construction project from site preparation through completion.
  • Monitor day-to-day construction operations to ensure compliance with industrial safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by coaching construction teams on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
  • Support the development and implementation of job hazard analyses and safe work procedures for industrial and heavy construction tasks.
  • Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety expectations and reinforce key safety topics.
  • Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and assist in developing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure that appropriate safety equipment and controls are in place and used correctly during construction activities.
  • Collaborate with project leadership, supervisors, and contractors to integrate safety requirements into construction planning and execution.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation and records in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in industrial or heavy construction safety.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and regulations related to construction and industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting safety on new construction projects, preferably in process or plant environments.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills to influence and guide construction teams on safe work practices.
  • Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident reviews in an industrial setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with safety oversight on ethanol plant construction or similar industrial facilities.

Work Environment

This position is based on a new ethanol plant construction site within an industrial setting. The work environment involves active heavy construction operations, including exposure to outdoor conditions, varying weather, and typical industrial noise levels. The Safety Professional spends most of the time in the field, working closely with construction crews and supervisors to monitor activities and reinforce safe work practices. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and regularly used on site.

This is a Contract position based out of Colwich, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.
