The Applied Science & Technology Research Organization of America (ASTRO America) is a 501(c)3 think tank and research institute focused on U.S. manufacturing policy and adoption of technology breakthroughs. ASTRO has grown into one of the nationโ€™s leading voices in 3D printing, manufacturing-related economic development, and innovation.

The Opportunity

ASTRO is seeking qualified and passionate candidates for a Project Manager position. The Project Manager supports the Principal Investigator and ASTRO senior leadership by coordinating and tracking complex projects and proposal development efforts. The role ensures projects are executed on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Creates project plan including deliverables, milestones, and other important dates.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the project and tracks execution
  • Manages the execution of the formal internal proposal writing process
  • Works with Senior PM and CFO to conduct cost analysis, estimating expected costs for the project.
  • Works with Senior PM and CFO to prepare and implement a budget based on estimates.
  • Works with Senior PM to conduct risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
  • Addresses questions, concerns throughout the project.
  • Assist with Project Planning and tracking tasks
  • Acts as a liaison between company, customers, and vendors.
  • Works with Contracting Specialist to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in related field
  • At one year of related experience required.
  • A PMP progress towards a PM, or desire to earn PMP
  • No prior professional project management experience required; students and recent graduates with relevant coursework or internship experience are encouraged to apply
  • The successful candidate will receive mentorship and on-the-job training in project management processes, proposal development, and compliance standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
