Position Overview:

The Sr. Engineering Project Manager at Motiva's Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex leads the planning, execution and delivery of complex capital and sustaining projects that support refinery and manufacturing operations. This role drives cross-functional collaboration to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and operational standards. The position provides technical leadership, manages project risks and resources, and supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency and long-term asset performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering capital and sustaining projects across refinery and manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and startup activities.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets and resource plans to support business and operational objectives.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, changes and deliverables to ensure projects remain on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance for complex engineering and operational challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Support project value proposition development, cost forecasting and capital planning activities.
  • Drive decision-making and problem-solving efforts related to engineering design, execution and functional integration.
  • Review engineering deliverables, technical specifications and project documentation to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Mentor and coach project team members while promoting continuous improvement, collaboration and operational excellence.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing capital projects in a petrochemical, refining or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Project Management experience working in a phased project process
  • Effective managerial capability
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and critical thinking skills
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management - Management of Change

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience directly working for an Owner/Operator facility

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots and hearing protection)
